I caved and got RDR2 for my PC and I’m trying to remember how to use the controls for this game vs my muscle memory from Days Gone. I keep using the same ones I would for my bike and wondering why my horse won’t go.
Game: so, here’s some tips on how to play.
Me, who has a billion hours logged in on my PS4:
#issa plays red dead redemption 2#this time on PC!#I am STRESSED because I don’t want ANYTHING to happen to my horse!#accidentally driving my bike into a tree? NO PROBLEM.#accidentally stepping into a stream and watching my horse’s health dip a single fraction? I AM THE WORST PERSON ALIVE.#I keep on catching myself on the lookout for infected#it was getting late so I haven’t started the mission to learn how to track things#I haven’t even spent any time with him but my love for Mr. Charles Smith has been reignited#I haven’t played this in forever but I’m looking forward to unlocking the fishing in chapter 2 and then not progressing the story#we just fish and hunt and sell to trappers to afford nice things for my horse

Thoughts on sleepy prompt 33 with Lloyd? Not soft Lloyd, not dark Lloyd, just like, decent equal partner Lloyd?
…and possibly 12, too, bc that’s just so him
Lloyd's Soulmate - Drabble
"decent equal partner Lloyd"... I'm gonna have to channel @eulalielatibule 's Suburban Dad Sunday Lloyd for this because she's the best at writing this kind of Lloyd. That being said, I'm gonna go ahead and use my Soulmate Lloyd, but they've definitely settled in together.
A/N: this was mostly written on my phone!
Ask based on this.
33. “Look me in the eyes and tell me what time you went to bed last night. Or if you went to bed, for that matter.”
12. “No offense, but you look like you haven’t slept in days.”
It's been almost a year since your soulmate, Lloyd, kidnapped you. The first few weeks were quite the learning experience for the two of you. It was a lot of tit-for-tat learning how to live with someone like Lloyd but the two of you actually made it work.
Go figure, Lloyd was an absolute softy for positive reinforcement which you were happy to give when he started respecting your boundaries and needs. The power dynamics were always in flux but both of you seemed to thrive on that. Arguing over what to watch was just foreplay.
Lately, though, you hadn't had the energy for arguing. You would give in to Lloyd a lot easier, which had him paranoid about retribution. Maybe it was depression? You were doing a lot more sleeping and eating. The latter was definitely affecting your figure but, thankfully, Lloyd didn't seem to care other than fully enjoying your bigger breasts.
Lloyd came back from a mission and found you groggily eating some ice cream on the couch.
"No offense, but you look like you haven’t slept in days," he says.
"No offense, but you like you need a shave," you snap back.
"If you really, truly want me to shave the clit tickler you beg to ride every night, I will," he threatens. "But I don't think you really want that."
"Yeah, you're right," you sigh. "I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm just always tired and hungry and my clothes aren't fitting anymore. Maybe I need a workout program or something."
Lloyd considers for a few moments before going to his phone.
"What are you doing," you ask.
"Checking the period tracker," he replies.
"You've been tracking my periods??"
"Well one of us has to! You have no idea how many headaches I've spared us both by making sure I know when to restock the chocolate."
You cross your arms and pout on the couch while he goes back to his phone.
"Shit," he mutters. You look up at him, eyebrow arched. He takes a deep breath, "you're late. And not just a few days late."
Your eyes widen, "shit, shit, shit! I need a test! Now!" You try to get off the couch but Lloyd gestures you to stay seated.
"I'm getting someone to pick some up right now," he soothes. "And, just to be certain, I'm getting you an appointment with Dr. Beck, okay?" He sits next to you and you immediately cuddle up to him, holding his arm in a hug.
"In the meantime," he smirks, "another way to test is to see if you taste differently."
"Lloyd, this is serious," you gently smack his arm.
"And I'm being serious," he tells you as gently pushes you onto your back. You grab him and pull him into a kiss, needing the comfort of his weight on top of you as your brain was frazzled trying to figure everything out. Maybe a good orgasm really would help, and Lloyd was damn good at giving you those.
Two positive pregnancy tests later you're now waiting on the Doctor's office to confirm or deny the results. You feel like you've been in a state of shock since the first positive test. Thankfully Lloyd has been doing the heavy work and the thinking. Making sure you're getting the medical checks you need, making sure you eat.
"We really should talk," you tell him over dinner.
"Absolutely, Sweetheart."
"Do you want the baby?"
"It'll be an adjustment," he admits. "But so were you. And I haven't been happier since I got you."
You chuckle at that. "But a baby? So soon?"
"I've got the means to take care of you both. You won't have to worry about a thing."
You put a hand over your stomach, "promise you'll treat them even better than you treat yourself?"
"I promise," he says without hesitation.
"Okay," you nod. "Then, when the doctor gives us confirmation, we'll go into full parent mode. Okay?"
"Of course."
A few days after the confirmation from the doctor you're starting to feel better. Getting proper nutrition, knowing what's going on, and not getting angry at yourself for your clothes not fitting were all very good for your mental health. You've even been getting better sleep.
Unlike Lloyd. You woke up from an actually good night's sleep to find Lloyd on his computer looking like he hadn't slept since he fucked you into a coma last night.
"Lloyd," you call, getting his attention. "When was the last time you slept?"
"I've been sleeping here and there. I'm fine." He waves you off.
You spin his chair so that he's facing you, "Look me in the eyes and tell me what time you went to bed last night. Or if you went to bed, for that matter."
"If you're telling me you don't remember what we did in bed last night I'm running you to the emergency room, Sunshine."
"You know what I mean, Lloyd."
"I'm doing research. I've never been a parent before so I want to make sure to get some intel."
"You've got months to prepare. You don't have to push yourself this much this early." You stand up and cross your arms but that's when you see what's on Lloyd's screen. "Have you been buying baby clothes?"
"No! I've been getting ideas for my tailor! No way is our baby going to wear anything cheap!"
You laugh for the first time in weeks. A deep, big belly laugh. Lloyd is happy to hear it but also confused about what's so funny. You end up laughing so hard you have to sit on his lap as he holds you.
Finally catching your breath you tell him, "you really never do things half-assed, do you?"
Lloyd chuckles, "with an ass like mine? No way."
Tagging @alicedopey and @icefrozendeadlyqueen because I promised I would.

Away Mission Test Wholesome Chats & Banters (Suwa Squad #7)
Title: Getting Comfy at Suwa Squad 7 Pairing: Gen (Suwa | Ui | Oki | Katori | Mikumo) Summary: In which the five agents from different squads trying to have a good time, and they actually do during the away mission test.
Note: Suwa squad members working and living together for a week sounds like a blast! Here’s a fun scenario of Suwa Squad with Katori, Osamu, and the rest of the gang, complete with the sibling-like chaos. Love their dynamics. I mean, just reading the extras got me all SQUEEEE
At Suwa Squad's meeting room, late afternoon.
The Suwa Squad had gathered for their routine strategy meeting, but, as usual, things were already spiraling out of control.
Katori slams her hands on the table. "Why are we even listening to Four Eyes again? I mean, seriously, why’s the youngest of us all trying to tell us how to fight?"
Osamu, sitting across from her, remained composed as ever, writing and scribbling quietly in his notes without even glancing up.
Osamu says softly, "Because, Katori-san, you missed the last twenty minutes of planning sessions, and someone has to keep things on track."
Katori hisses, "Who asked you?!"
She crossed her arms, glaring at Osamu like an annoyed older sister who couldn’t stand her little brother’s calm demeanor. Before she could spit out another retort, Ui bounced over, full of energy and serotonin, practically glowing with cheerfulness.
Ui, cheerfully chimes in, "Come on, Katori-chan! Mikumo-kun’s pretty smart! He’s trying his best!"
Katori groans, "Ugh, you’re too positive."
Meanwhile, Oki, who had been leaning back in his chair with a big grin, was clearly enjoying the chaos.
Oki teases. "Katori-chan, give Mikumo-kun some slack. He’s our little strategist prodigy. Besides, it’s kinda cute watching you two bicker." Katori whipped around to glare at Oki, her face turning red. Gritting her teeth, she hisses again. "Don’t call me cute! Gross!"
Oki laughs. "I meant the sibling vibe you and Mikumo have. He’s so calm, and you’re like—" He imitates her hissing, "—rawr."
Katori glares harder. "I will end you."
Before the tension could escalate, Suwa, back from the toilet, entered the room, arms crossed, looking every bit like the rough-mouthed father figure of the squad.
Suwa grumbles. "What the hell are you all yappin’ about? Mikumo, you good? You haven’t quit yet from all the noise?"
Osamu merely shrugged with a little laugh, glancing up briefly from his notebook. "I’m used to it."
Suwa let out a loud laugh, smacking Osamu on the back in what could only be described as a semi-painful display of fatherly affection and grinned. "That’s what I like to hear! Kid’s got backbone. Y’all could learn something from him."
Katori, while rolling her eyes, quips. "Of course you’d take his side."
Ui, ever the bubbly peacekeeper, quickly jumped in with a big smile. "Aww, it’s ‘cause Mikumo-kun is like our little brother! We should take care of him!"
Oki nodded enthusiastically, patting Osamu on the head with a mischievous grin. "Yup, youngest one’s the brains of the family."
Osamu, clearly used to their antics, just sighed softly, not even bothering to move Oki’s hand from his head. He says calmly, "Should we get back to planning for tomorrow?"
Suwa plopped down at the head of the table, kicking his feet up. "Yeah, yeah, let’s hear it, Mikumo. What's the next slick plan you’ve got for us?"
As Osamu started explaining the strategy, Katori was still glaring daggers at him, but even she couldn’t deny the kid knew his stuff. Oki and Ui, meanwhile, were nodding along enthusiastically, with Oki throwing in the occasional joke and Ui offering praise at every opportunity.
Despite all the sibling-style squabbles, there was an undeniable camaraderie in Suwa Squad—a group that bickered like family but, at the end of the day, had each other's backs. Even if Osamu had to deal with Katori’s endless teasing and Suwa’s tough love, he was undeniably part of the team.
———
It’s 7pm, and the timer signals the end of the test period for the day. Everyone in Suwa Squad lets out a collective sigh of relief. The cramped, plain room at HQ has been their home for the test duration, and while they’ve gotten used to it, the confinement is starting to get to them. Still, for now, they’re free to relax.
Osamu, ever the responsible one, takes charge of distributing tea. He approaches Katori first, who’s leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, still sulking about the day’s results.
Without a word, he offers her a cup. Katori eyes him suspiciously, her usual grumpy demeanor in place.
“You better not be trying to poison me, Four Eyes,” she mutters, but grabs the cup anyway.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Osamu replies calmly, completely unbothered by her snark. He moves on to the others, while Katori takes a tentative sip of the tea, her expression softening slightly as the warmth hits her.
Meanwhile, Oki emerges from the tiny kitchen area with cups for the rest of the squad. He hands one to Ui, who, as usual, is all smiles.
“Here ya go, Ui-chan! Hot tea, made with love,” Oki grins.
“Thank you, Oki-senpai!” Ui chirps, accepting the cup. She blows on the tea gently, her lips pursing like a cat testing something too hot.
Oki’s eyes light up. “Ui-chan, ya look just like a cute lil’ kitten!”
Ui giggles, her cheeks puffing out as she blows on her tea again. “Meowww,” she jokes, playfully leaning into the cat comparison.
Katori, sitting with her tea, rolls her eyes. “Dorks.”
Suwa, sipping his coffee, watches the exchange with an amused smirk. “You kids are kinda adorable, I guess. But man, do I miss my beer.”
Oki chuckles, setting his tea down. “Should’ve smuggled in a can or two as part of your personal effects, Suwa-san.”
Suwa snorts. “Yeah, and get us all failed immediately? No thanks.”
Everyone bursts out laughing, imagining the look on the judges’ faces if Suwa tried to sneak alcohol into the mission test.
As the laughter dies down, Osamu, always the calm little brother figure, sits down with his tea. He watches the dynamic around him—Oki doting on Ui, Katori begrudgingly sipping her tea, and Suwa cracking jokes like a rough-mouthed father figure. Despite the teasing and banter, it’s moments like this that make them feel like a real team, even in the pressure cooker of the mission test.
Katori, glancing at Osamu from the corner of her eye, lets out a quiet huff. “You’re not so bad, Four Eyes,” she mumbles under her breath, just loud enough for him to hear.
Osamu, with his usual composure, just nods and takes another sip of tea. No grudges, no bitterness—just the same steady presence that keeps this chaotic squad grounded.
The evening break continues with more light-hearted banter, the weight of the mission test forgotten, if only for a little while.

hey can you describe the plot of the last two arcs of ethersea s1 to the best of your ability? I haven’t finished it and I want to listen to it in my head during the ap calc exam tomorrow
Well peter you are in a heap of luck because my answer comes to you like two or three months late! Hurray!!!!
Oh um and if you're my friend Siena, don't read this post!! Spoilers ahead!!!!
Okay. So. The menagerie. Following the shit that happened in cambrias call the crew have saved the city and yada yada they're heroes . They go back to the bluespan brokerage like hey we want a new mission and Ravi is like oh yeah I have this one or the biomass swarm which has been available since day one with Ballaster Kodira but keep running away from it I guess. And Justin is like I'll take the first option. Anyways they go to the conservatory where the curator is and he's like hey uh some of my animals got stolen
And they talk to the horse, well Zoox does I guess, and Devo follows one of the security sprites cause he doesn't fuckin trust it. And he does such a good performance check that he turns into a white cube or something. And they manage to not track it exactly but realized it's the same type as was in the abyssal auction. And they want to get in touch with this guy
So they are like ok the best way to do this is to talk to someone who we Know would know him. And they take a wine bottle to Aloysius supremes house and try to bribe him into telling them? Honestly no idea how that worked out for them. But it did.
And then they take their ship to where he told them to and dock and pretend to be fucking window inspectors or some bullshit of equal holding. And they infiltrate and they are like damn this is fancy and amber and Devo chill in the study but Zoox is like I need to soak :( and then amber like pulls some stunt maybe it's another bathroom break scenario and Devo dresses like a waitstaff to blend in. He goes to the docks and talks to tolliver maybe who he learns runs the place? Which is called crescendo. And amber finds the place the auroch is stored and goes into it and she has to fight some dude cause they're trying to hunt the animals. And she saved the auroch but then it started talking and oh what it has griffins face ok that's weird . And they get it on the ship or some bullshit and then Zoox bombs the place and kills everyone inside and damages the Coriolis a little bit but it's mostly fine. Idfk what their deal is.gonna be real I remember menagerie the least. There was an undersea encounter somewhere there and I think it may have been blinksharks telling Zoox about the four arm woman person who hang in the sky and boil sea? And he's like yeah ok. Also it may have been the ghost ship? Or a mermaid?
Then they get back to founders wake and another ship is like uh permission to board and KODIRA!!! shows up and she's like... Devo I'm im so sorry. The hand of guidance is dead
‼️‼️‼️💥💥💥
So they go to the Parrish and investigate and Kodira's like look this is kind of illegal but I'm gonna let you all do whatever you have to to investigate. And they're like she didn't kill herself someone made her do this and then they go to the schoolhouse and talk to seldom and idk what came of that cause I forgot.
They decide it's probably orlene and he's been weird so they are gonna go after him and they're like hey let's bring Kodira also urchin has a friend now but it's not important. Along the way they come across some minefield or something and aaa blinkshark maybe? The important part is the statue that is at the bottom of the ocean. Amber swims down to it and when she touches it she has a vision where she is like on land and Koda is about to step on her but he is smiling. And then her astral arms are way more powerful and the statue glows green.
Kodira blinks them back and is like wtf happened and amber is like check it pretty swag huh? And Kodira's like. I gotta process
And then after a day they reach this big dome made of bleached coral. And they have to fight the last of the blinksharks which they end up killing. And they go into the dome and fight a coral dragon. But amber hears fighting downstairs from Kodira so she's like!!!! I gotta help! An she sees that there's just been.. a.. slaughter. Kodira is standing in the middle of just a field of slain bleached coral bodies. And a red eye on her forehead is glowing. Koda starts talking to amber about how magic destroyed world's yada yada join him to stop it from destroying the next or shit idfk he sees ambers green arms and is like you have such a power you don't know you possess. And then fights her for it
Kodira has six red astral arms out and amber manages to grapple her into a bear hug from behind and hold them down. And Koda is like wow she... Really.. . Doesn't want me to fight you. And they fight more and she eventually is like fine I'll join you if everyone gets to leave safe. And Kodira's mouth is bleeding and she gets some blood on one of the empty portal attempts and uh it activates.
Upstairs, Zoox and Devo defeat the coral dragon and face orlene. They learn that he wants to go back in time and be with his family. He has a bunch of portals formed from the coral which is what he was using drynarr to do . They talk, fight, etc. Zoox is separated from his body and becomes the coral tower, after a chat w finneas in his mind palace . Orlene dies. Devo looks into the portal of the past, and says the words he knows so well,
"when kingdoms fall the sea provides a home for all beneath the tides... and bring your families"
And then he returns downstairs where koda-kodira and amber have been fighting. And amber is like hey Devo come look at this and she's like, I just wanted you to see it once (I'm not cryi--). And then goes back to fighting Koda and she's like actually if you want magic gone you're gonna have to come get it and dashes for the portal and leaps into it shouting kela sai guppies momma's home! And Kodira jumps in after her and holds herself up with these red arms and grabs onto amber but then amber turns on the vapour suit, snapping at Kodira's arm, and they both fall into the new world and the portal shuts behind them.
Devo and Zoox go home. He wants to see seldom but goes to the schoolhouse to find only beck, saying seldom took his ship and went away. Devo becomes the new head of the Parrish and he turns it into a school. Zoox is made th defender of the city and has a giant mech body. He builds a coral statue of amber. They go out in their freetime to try and find Amber.
But uh funny thing is, Devo has a headache. It started back on their way home. And then he sees a visage of a man in front of him, the one he knows as tolliver. And tolliver is like yeah man u made two different timelines when u did that shit. And Devo is like oh yeah well I'm your brother Damien cern and tollivers like oh yeah well I'm kind of a personification of magic at the moment so.. and then we see timeline b in the world that got devos version of the call. He is at the Parrish still and guidance is alive. He is happy, maybe, and teaches kids about benevolence. But without his help on their first mission, amber and Zoox died.
Back in uh timeline a as we are now calling it. The main ethersea timeline. Devo is going through his stuff and finds a book from orlene with a handwritten note that says "great oraters seldom whisper." And everyone is like OHHH SHIT SELDOMS A SPY
And we go up. Up up up to a city in the sky. And we are inside a cell. Where we see Seldom. And a man approaches him. It's benevolence.
And Devo vows that he is going to kill god.
Meanwhile in the other world amber and Kodira are giant and theres blinksharks in the water and they're like fuck what's up and then Koda is dead as hell and they're basically gods and they goof and fall in love and then sun sets the end
Anyways hope your calc exam went well the results are probably in by now xoxo (for dramatic effect) DBSKFJKSKFJDKD
#sierra speaks#taz ethersea#taz ethersea spoilers#thank you for the ask!#wow i spent a long time typing that

Coming out of a Subway in Edinburgh and starting to walk West, Connie Burns and Danny Drake passed a woman with her back to them, talking on a mobile phone.
“Wait a minute!” said Connie stopping Danny, “Do you hear that voice?” “Yeah,” said Drake, “that sounds like Katie MacBonnet; we haven't seen her in years!”
Both turned their thoughts to their friend whom they had lost track of.
Katie as they remember her
Waiting for the woman to stop talking Connie said "“Katie is that you? It’s Danny and me!”
The pair, however, were surprised when the woman turned around, and she proved to be not their old tom-boyish red-headed friend but a woman in a beautiful Chinese dress that for sure was not their old Katie.
Connie was about to say, “sorry, I thought you were someone else.” When the woman said, “Yes, it’s me Katie” though she seemed to pronounced it Kai Téi.
Katie MacBonnet, or as she now called herself Gài Zhizi Kai Téi knew right away that the pair could tell something weird was up, and indeed it was just the week before that an odd little woman had stepped in front of her (Taoist sorceress Grand Mistress Lady Yinyin Xianren out on her mission of mass transformation) spouted some words at her and after that Katie found herself as Kai Téi upper-class Singapore lady with a sudden interest in Eastern mysticism. However really, deep down she was still, rough and tumble, sometimes foulmouthed, but always terse get to the point Katie. So she said.
“Greetings! It has been an interminable time since we have last seen one another. I myself find it difficult to believe how much time has passed!
Yet, here I am, still I in my entirety. I am Katie, hailing from Dundee, Scotland. I recently underwent a transformation, though I must confess that the transformation was truly remarkable! You could still recognize me, however, with a brand-new look.
Truthfully, I have engaged in much introspection as of late, and I have learned a great deal about who I am and the world surrounding me. It has been a voyage of self-discovery, and I have acquired a multitude of knowledge from it, including a deep admiration for ancient, Eastern philosophies.
This may appear quite different from the outside, such as my hair, my cheongsam, and my entire appearance. But internally, my spirit remains the same as ever. Only, it is a more developed version that is more aware of the beauty and profundity of living in the present. I am still the same Scottish lass; however, I am now more cognizant of the world and the teachings it has to offer.
It has been a long and peculiar voyage, yet I am pleased to have returned and look forward to catching up with all of you!”
“Yeah, that would be nice.” said Connie not being able to hide her shock on hearing all that from a woman with Katie’s voice and yes her deep green eyes.
Danny more on the ball was able to exchange phone numbers with the woman. “Later for sure!” said Danny. “Zài jiàn.” (good bye) said Kai Téi as she turned and walked away down the street. “They don’t suspect a thing.” she thought pleased with herself.
Connie and Danny just shrugged at each other.
Danny made sure to keep the number.

Stephen Strange Meta-Fic Sequel - Chapter 21: A Covert Ring
Let’s just say that this chapter features Lokis. MCU and mythologically-accurate. Knowing the stuff they can get into, well…You’ll see.~
TRIGGER WARNING: Depression, bad language, kidnapping, scary situations
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chapter 21: A Covert Ring
*Trix has been hunkering down in the library more often recently, working on cataloging the new books since she and Wong were finally able to get through all of them. She’s been a bit more withdrawn lately. This is why Loki is on a mission to track her down.*
Loki: You’ve been quiet lately and haven’t even reached out psychically the past week. Surely you’re not losing interest in talking to me? *He sits down in front of Trix at the table and she startles.*
Trix (panicked): Of course not! You’re one of the people I’m closest to, it’s just been a hard week… *She gets quiet again.*
Loki: Ah yes, I heard about Steward’s adventure. She has her relic now, and so does Prettywitch, but what about you? *He’s genuinely curious.*
Trix: I- *She hesitates.* I don’t know if I even want to find my relic at this point. I’m perfectly fine here with the books, keeping things running, laying low.
Loki (frowning): Surely you can’t mean that?
Trix (trying to stay calm): I bet not every sorcerer has a relic of their own. Certain people are meant for certain things. Prettywitch and Steward are absolutely amazing and can do a lot so it doesn’t surprise me that they have their relics. Steward had to deal with a lot to get hers and I think she’s still a bit rattled. I’m fine just helping from the sidelines and being pulled out when necessary.
*She purposefully turns back to the books she’s sorting while Loki frowns. This isn’t good, he thinks. She had finally been regaining some confidence back and it seems she has coaxed herself back into her shell.*
Loki (gently pulling me away from the books): What I think you need is some sunlight and some time away from Kamar-Taj. You’re trapping yourself in your own head. Where are the others?
Trix (not looking at him): PrettyWitch and Steward are learning about their relics and have been off doing that. Wong and Stephen have been arguing the past week. We aren’t allowed to leave right now.
Loki (annoyed): So you’re confined here while your friends have unlocked that essential part of them and how they can contribute to magic and you’re perfectly fine with that?
*He’s struck a chord and Trix glares at him.*
Trix: Steward is still terrified of the staff because she had to die to get it. I’m not going to get involved in the fight between Wong and Stephen because I have had enough of my family fighting in my lifetime and me staying silent to keep the peace to start now. I know I can handle waiting it out and what needs to happen will happen eventually.
Loki (gently, knowing he pushed too far): You’re too passive, darling. This isn’t a jail cell and I’m not going to let you serve an imaginary sentence because you are too afraid to push the boundaries to help yourself. Come on. *He grabs her hand and pulls her to her feet before leading her out of the library.*
Trix (worried and loud-whispering): Loki- you’re going to get us in trouble.
Loki (grinning back): That’s why we’re not going to portal from the library.
*Trix and Loki reach a rather abandoned side courtyard where Loki pulls out a sling ring and offers it to her.*
Loki: I’m not saying you have to go on a quest or go searching for danger. You can even just go home for a bit but you need to get out of here before you lose yourself. You’re scared of a lot of things but that’s the one thing you’re the most terrified of and I can see it happening.
*This causes Trix to pause. After a moment, she hesitantly reaches out and takes the sling ring and puts it on. Loki smiles at her.*
Trix (cautiously): One short trip.
Loki: Understood.
Trix: And we’re just going to my hometown for a few hours.
Loki (obliging): Always was curious about it. Lead on.
*He gestures to the open space and Trix quickly glances around to make sure none of the others are around before she creates the portal and they step through. It feels like a breath of fresh air to Trix as the portal closes behind them. Kamar-Taj has been such a tense place lately that finally being free of that energy is having an immediate effect on her. Loki smiles.*
Loki: Where to first?
Trix: Downtown first? I can show you my house before we leave?
Loki: Excellent.
*They wander to the decently sized downtown of Washington. It has a number of shops and things to do like crafting workshops and other things. A typical downtown for a smaller sized city. Trix and Loki wander through various places and when they’re at one of Trix’s favorite local stores, they wander off in different directions to look at various things.*
*Unbeknownst to Trix, another being has been observing them from a distance. They’ve been camped out in the neighborhood due to the intensity of the interdimensional rifts generated in the area. When Trix and 616-Loki emerged from their portal, this being noticed right away and proceeded to track them. Now that 616-Loki and Trix have wandered apart, they make their move, subtly shapeshifting themselves into 616-Loki’s physical form and then casually sidling over to her.*
“616-Loki”: So, seeing anything that catches your eye?
Trix (looking through some art prints): Honestly? If it was the ‘before-times’ would say yes but nothing is really calling out to me now. *She turns to him and shrugs.*
“616-Loki”: I see. Well, are you detecting anything beyond the new levels of abnormal?
Trix (pauses): Hmmm…just you and I. *She pauses again.* Do you have a clone out? The people here are already freaked out enough, dont be torturing them with your twin act. *She grins and bumps shoulders with him.*
*He shrugs.*
“616-Loki”: Just scouting around. Nothing more. *He glances at a nearby tattoo parlor.* Hmmm…Intriguing. What are the more common forms of body art in your world? Mind if I take a look with you?
*Trix glances over at the tattoo parlor, noting it must have popped up in the time they were gone.*
Trix: Typically tattoos are the most common. They have an inking gun that is basically a pen with a bunch of needles that injects the ink quicker than you might be used to seeing. I’m a bit queasy with needles personally, but we can go take a look if you’re interested.
*The two leave the shop and start heading over to the tattoo parlor. Meanwhile, 616-Loki is still wandering the store when he realizes he can’t see Trix anymore. A wave of dread washes over him when he realizes he’s alone.*
616-Loki (groaning): Oh no…
*Meanwhile, Trix and “616-Loki” have entered the tattoo parlor.*
“616-Loki”: Intriguing…*He glances at the designs in the parlor.* Well, in the interest of facing your fears, which design would you consider, if any? I’m not saying get one, but I’m curious.
*Trix glances around at the designs and notes that there’s a significant amount of Norse designs, especially with runes. They also seem incredibly accurate too…a small hint of caution begins to form in her mind when she realizes that even for a tattoo parlor they don’t get this specialized.*
Trix: Hmmm, I’ve considered a few things over the years to be honest. I once tried to create a sigil for myself of a flame that I was tempted to get tattooed. Another one was a quote from one of my favorite movies that said “Remember who you are.” Since I do need the reminder. Though now I would likely do something pertaining to my roles now. *She flips through some of the sample designs in the binder on the table.*
*While Trix is occupied looking at the sample designs, “616-Loki” subtly makes a few gestures, sealing them into the parlor so she can’t portal out.*
“616-Loki”: Very interesting. So, a “Lion King” fan, eh? *He’s playing off his secret actions smoothly.*
*Trix glances over at “Loki” for a moment and frowns but plays it off.*
Trix (hesitantly): Yeah…it came out two weeks after I was born so it felt right. What tattoo would you choose? Not that you need it because of the shapeshifting of course… *Something isn’t right here and Trix is trying not to reveal how on edge she’s becoming.*
*”616-Loki” shrugs.*
“616-Loki”: Not sure. I don’t have much patience for it. Now tell me, how much have you learned from your lessons lately? *He watches her calmly, subtly trying to redirect her attention and figure out how much she really knows.*
Trix (nonchalantly): You know how Stephen is. He’s been pushing me a lot more lately after the masteries. You would think with him being my master, he’d lay off a bit more now that I passed the tests but he is a stickler…
“616-Loki”: I see…*He knows that she’s getting suspicious.*
*There’s a loud bang from the window and Trix turns to see another Loki outside, looking distressed and shouting but he can’t be heard. She immediately turns to the ‘Loki’ she’s inside with and shifts into a defensive position.*
*“616-Loki” snaps his fingers and the blinds on the windows shut quickly. Then, there is a shimmer as his form becomes distorted and shifts into an androgynous-looking redhead with a wiry frame and a wide grin.*
333-Loki: I suppose I should drop the guise seeing as the jig is up. Now, you will tell me about the realm you have inhabited over the past year as well as its respective magic. *They aren’t asking.*
Trix (deadpan): I’m surprised you haven’t figured it out if you’re up to date with pop culture. Dormammu would have been a dead giveaway if you truly knew what you were looking for. *She smirks*
333-Loki: Now, dear, we both know that media is not wholly accurate. I want the details. Its differences. What was right and what is wrong. Movies and comics always embellish their tales. So, I ask once more…What do you know from the other realm?
Trix: I know that it was very easy to detain your counterpart’s soul through witchcraft. The eldritch magics are also quite effective seeing as you were likely around watching when Stephen saved this realm from being consumed. I’m a bit of a jack of all trades between the different forms of magic over there. Otherwise a lot of those movies are accurate…for the most part. Anything else you want to know, Loki? *Trix smiles sweetly at him. She’s trying to stall while not trying to show that she’s looking for a way out. It’s looking more and more like she’s going to need to fight her way out.*
333-Loki (amused): Good girl. Now, for the entertainment portion of our conversation. *They grin even wider as they shift their position. She feels someone behind her.*
*Trix tries not to startle but throws up a crystal shield around herself as she may know her Loki, but she also knows just how dangerous a Loki can be.*
*The floor drops out from beneath her.*
*Meanwhile, 616-Loki is pacing outside of the tattoo parlor as he tries to make his way in. Various attempts haven’t worked so far but he’s getting incredibly anxious.*
616-Loki (growling): Norns, I really hate myself. This one in particular at the moment. *He tries another attempt but it fails as well. As his anger builds, he begins to channel more and more power. He hasn’t felt this kind of rage since New York and he unconsciously shifts to his armor. He makes another attempt.*
*Back in the parlor, Trix is a bit disoriented as she appears in a different room. Clearly this is where her universe’s version of Loki has set up camp so it’s unlikely to be easy. She takes a moment to shift her clothes from her casual attire to her master’s robes and catches herself on the ground.*
Trix (rolling her eyes): What do you want from me? I’m not going to tell you everything I know, I know what you’re like. *She conjures a spiritual weapon that she finally learned from the ghost library. It appears to be a type of broadsword.* I know Loki more than you think.
*She feels herself invert, turning inside-out and then outside-in as her body is turned around. 333-Loki is now walking on the floor while she’s hanging on the ceiling, the gravity inverted.*
333-Loki: Perhaps YOUR Loki, but I think that you and I may have something to learn about one another. *They watch her conjuring the weapon, already learning her technique from observation.*
*She struggles as her body contorts but refuses to back down. She won’t make the first move, refusing to give him more but she won’t be unarmed.*
Trix: I know enough about you as well. Was a follower for a bit before the universe broke, it’s why I took my name. I was always admiring your stubbornness and cleverness and wanted to emulate that. So I do know a bit. *She is still trying to find a way out but honestly knows that she’s completely at his mercy. Trix still doesn’t back down.*
*616-Loki is getting angrier and angrier as he continues to fail, an echo of his time at the TVA passes through his mind that Loki’s are always destined to fail. He just has to hope that will not be the case today, for Trix’s sake. As he attacks the door once more, the whole building rattles. It only encourages him to try harder.*
333-Loki (unamused): I see the other me wants in. Perhaps I should move us somewhere quieter…
Trix: You can try, but he’s always going to find me. Even across universes, he can always track me down.
333-Loki: Perhaps, but it buys me a little more time to learn more. *They snap their fingers and the entire tattoo parlor vanishes, teleporting elsewhere.*
*616-Loki snarls as the parlor disappears. Unfortunately, it looks like he’s going to need to recruit some backup otherwise he’s going to end up murdering someone today.*
*Back in the parlor, Trix focuses on what this particular Loki is saying.*
Trix: Why do you need to know about me so badly? Why me? The others have been here multiple times and for longer.
333-Loki (rolling their eyes): Please. The other two are FAR less cooperative. Even then, I have no invested interest in YOU, persay. *They curl their lip.*
*Trix frowns as every avenue she’s trying to find isn’t panning out. She doesn’t dare try the runes like they did for Agatha since that would only work against her. Instead, she tries to magically reach out to her Loki and his magic.*
*616-Loki has transported himself back to Kamar-Taj with his sling ring and in full battle regalia, he searches for Stephen and Wong. He’s drawing stares as he passes through, but they know him well enough now to not be immediately on guard.*
*Stephen is currently looking through some instructor manuals that Wong summoned. They’re trying to come up with a logical solution to their dilemma without fighting more. Wong is blowing off some steam in the courtyard, training against some other masters.*
*616-Loki, thankfully, comes across Wong first.*
616-Loki (grim): We need to get Stephen. Trix has been taken by my counterpart from her universe.
Wong (suspicious): How? *He stops his training and goes over to 616-Loki immediately.*
616-Loki (annoyed, mainly at himself): We may have snuck out to visit her hometown since she was retreating into herself so badly. I wanted to make sure she wouldn’t smother her inner fire from how depressed she was becoming. Unfortunately, it looks like my counterpart has been watching the multiversal portal and set up a base in their town. They escaped with her before I could free her. She seemed to be holding her own but this other me…he had immense power. Moreso than he should have had.
Wong (exasperated): Of all of the foolish ways to-*He huffs* Fine. *He takes 616-Loki to Stephen.*
*Stephen looks up from his books and notices the urgency.*
Stephen (concerned, but also frustrated): What is it this time?
616-Loki (getting frustrated he keeps having to explain): Trix was captured by my counterpart in her universe. I tried to retrieve her but I needed to retreat to summon backup. It looked like they were more interested in figuring her out than killing her.
Stephen (angry at Loki, but getting up to help): For Vishanti’s sake! I will aid in her rescue, of course. Why in the Nine Realms did you even think about taking her to their universe when there were plenty of safer sites?!
616-Loki (angrily): Because if I didn’t let her out of this place, the greatest danger to her would have been herself. I was trying to help her by taking her somewhere familiar that could spark some good memories. I don’t need you lecturing me about how she’s in danger, I already know. *He is seething, but more at himself than anyone else.*
*Stephen looks like he practically wants to roar at 616-Loki, but shakes his head in an angry huff, knowing this fighting won’t do any good.*
Stephen (growling): We’ll have words about this later…
*He opens a portal to Earth-333.*
*Meanwhile, Trix is trying to do something that she and 616-Loki had hypothesized but hadn’t tried out. She reaches out to that soul plain and finds her connection with 616-Loki and grabs at his magic. It practically melts into her and she suddenly feels energy surging through her. Relying on the instinct in 616-Loki’s magic, she summons a set of daggers and manages to free herself from her bindings. She stares at 333-Loki before suddenly the room is filled with clones of her.*
*Stephen, Wong, and 616-Loki all sense a huge concentration of magical energy localized in an area of Svalbard. Deciding to cut to the chase, Wong opens a portal for them to travel there quickly. They see a tattoo parlor standing in the middle of a barren field. An odd sight to behold. Stephen and Wong rush over and scan the place, detecting the magic radiating from the structure.*
*Meanwhile, inside the parlor, 333-Loki is surprised for once. They backpedal slightly, noticing the huge power boost.*
All of the Trix’s: You want to know my magic? Well let’s figure it out together, shall we? *They all grin and rush 333-Loki*
*333-Loki melts through the floor and suddenly their foot emerges from the ceiling in an attempt to stomp on the clones.*
*Outside of the parlor, Wong and Stephen are already at work, uttering counterspells to weaken and break the wards.*
*The army of Trix gathers together and collectively extends the daggers into swords and raise them so 333-Loki is stepping on a living tack, protecting herself from being crushed.*
*333-Loki howls in pain, hopping up and down. This shakes the entire parlor. Suddenly, gravity goes crazy again and random objects, including some of the Trix’s, begin to generate their own fields, falling against each other and various random directions. The walls begin to melt upward and the floor grows into a dome. Everything is distorting.*
Trix (growling): No. *She slams her hands down and the room begins to distort again, this time to her wishes. The floor restores itself and the melting walls begin to collect around 333-Loki. She also instinctively begins to try and draw magic from the parlor itself.*
*The building’s defenses weaken further. Now, to finish off the wards and enter.*
*In the meantime, a Conjurer’s Cone opens up next to Trix and sucks her in, proceeding to teleport her chaotically throughout the building in an attempt to disorient her. The parlor has many more rooms than one would think, given the size of the exterior.*
*Her clones have finally disappeared and Trix is grasping wildly as she tries to regain her sense of direction. However, there’s something else that catches her attention. Like a moth to a flame, Trix ignores the chaos around her as she reaches out and grabs a ring as it floats by. It radiates a warmth and comfort as she holds it in her hand. She immediately puts it on her ring finger for safekeeping and gets to work on getting out of this situation. She creates her own Conjurer’s Cone to launch herself out of the God’s portals and towards 333-Loki once more, dagger back in hand.*
*As the chaos erupts, the wards go down, Wong and Stephen bursting in through the door. They see the scene unfolding before them and are surprised to see Trix holding her own against the rogue deity…and winning.*
616-Loki (amazed): That’s why I feel so weak. I thought it was my counterpart, but she’s using my magic.
*333-Loki, successfully startled by the sudden turn of events, conjures a shield just in time for Trix to bury her dagger deeply into it. They smirk, their eyes drifting to her hand and seeing the ring.*
333-Loki (noticing the group staring at them): …I suppose now is a good time to call this a draw. Keep the ring. You’ve earned it.
*They snap their fingers and vanish, along with the parlor, leaving Trix standing there awkwardly in front of 616-Loki and the two sorcerers.*
Trix (giggling from too much energy): Hi! I found my relic! *She raises her left hand, showing off the ring. She is absolutely high off of magic and adrenaline at the moment and looks completely windswept.*
Wong (calm, but direct): Loki, take back your power before any harm comes to her. Now.
616-Loki (worried): Of course. *He steps up to me and smiles down.* Hello darling, let me help you with that. *He pulls her into a bear hug.*
*Trix has a drunk grin on her face as she hugs 616-Loki, giving him the opportunity to pull back his magic. It leaves her unconscious in his arms as the magical and physical exhaustion kicks in.*
*He adjusts her in his arms so she’s in a bridal carry.*
616-Loki (still a bit in awe): I had no idea she could do that. I mean, we talked about potential, but we never tried it just in case something went wrong.
*Stephen runs over to check on Trix, scanning and doing everything he can to see if there’s anything injured in her both physically and otherwise. He lets out a sigh of relief when nothing seems to be wrong.*
Stephen (low tone): …I need a word with all of you as soon as we get back and she wakes up…*He’s a mixture of angry, worried, and remorseful.*
*616-Loki nods solemnly.*
*They take Trix back to Kamar-Taj and set her on a bed in the infirmary just so she has a safe place to wake up.*
*It takes about twenty minutes, but Trix blearily wakes up to see Stephen, Wong, and Loki all sitting around her. When she realizes where she is, she closes her eyes again.*
Trix (resigned): This is why I’m horrible at sneaking out places and usually don’t try.
Wong (scolding lightly): Plus, it was a very foolish thing to do.
Stephen: We’re not gonna ground you, Trix, but we do need to talk about everything that’s been going on.
*Trix opens one eye and sort of melts into the bed, instantly emotionally curling back into herself once more and she instinctively makes herself smaller.*
Loki (grabbing her hand): Hey now, don’t do that. It was my fault for convincing you to go with me. I’m sorry I got you into this mess in the first place.
Stephen: We understand that you feel trapped and none of us intended for this place to become a prison. So, Wong and I decided that you three are allowed to freely roam this universe and run missions here until we have a better solution for sorting out your world.
Wong: However, in light of recent events, Loki is no longer permitted to take you anywhere without obtaining permission first.
*Trix glances at Loki who shrugs.*
Loki: Someone needs to face consequences and it was absolutely not your fault, but it was mine. We aren’t being kept from one another.
*Trix still isn’t talking but is slowly relaxing again as they explain.*
Stephen: I know that things have been tense here. So…I’m also working on trying to get better at communication and what Wong calls “civil discourse”. *He gives Wong a slightly annoyed look. Wong is neutral as per usual.*
Wong: He knows that he has a long way to go, but is willing to put the extra work in for your sakes.
Trix (quietly): Thank you. And in the spirit of you trying to communicate, I guess I should try to as well. *She looks over at Stephen.* It’s incredibly easy for me to fall into a very bad mental state if certain things start happening. Between the lockdown and you and Wong fighting, it really felt like when I was trapped before and things got bad. Very bad. An intervention was involved and luckily things got better. But I just kinda…shut down and don’t really say anything because I don’t want to make things worse. So, I apologize for not saying anything and causing Loki to intervene which started this mess. It’s not fair to you guys that we keep almost giving you heart attacks.
Stephen: …Thank you. We’re sorry for arguing amongst ourselves so much that we neglected our duties towards helping you three get better. Now, let’s try to be more open with one another from now on, all right?
Trix (smiling softly): Agreed. *She looks down at her hand and finally spots the relic. Trix stares at it curiously.*
Wong: …I take it that you’ve bonded with that ring?
Trix: I think so? After I took in Loki’s magic, things get a little hazy in my memory. It’s like if we were both fighting him, I get flashes of what happened. How did the fight end?
Wong: That is typical of a sorcerer who takes in the power of a god whose goals align with their own.
Stephen: You successfully held your ground. *He has his characteristic curled lip, indicating a subtle note of pride.*
Trix (surprised): You mean, I fought a god and actually won?
Loki (proudly): You did not have a scratch on you.
Wong: It was a formidable act of sorcery on your part.
Trix (still in shock): I…I wouldn’t believe you if it wasn’t for these weird flashes of memory. I don’t even like seeing blood, was I really using daggers?! *She’s both excited and shocked.*
Stephen (bluntly): You were…Now don’t get too carried away. Seeing as you did sneak out, although you aren’t grounded, there still has to be some consequence. You’re on dish duty in the kitchen for a week. No arguments there.
Trix (still excited): No problem from me since the weird magic food is gone. *She turns to Loki* What else do you think I could do since we know it works?
Loki (amused): Anything I can do most likely. Though we shouldn’t try it too much, godling. It could easily get overwhelming and your sense of self could be smothered by my own. We don’t need another version of me running around when you’re something that is much more valuable. *He’s still a bit shaken from what could have happened.*
Wong: If you’re feeling up to it, we will study your new ring. *He’s doing his best to make his peace with Trix after all of the fighting he did on his part.*
Trix: I would love that. It doesn’t feel like it is meant to be used for fighting, it’s too calm for that. Maybe it’s for something else? 333-Loki was determined to figure out what I knew: from the different types of magic here to what I personally knew. He knows all of us well and is apparently very familiar with all of the lore featuring this universe and wanted to know what was real and what wasn’t. *She looks between the three*
Wong: Most likely attempting to bolster his own skillset. To what means, it is uncertain.
Stephen: In the spirit of ensuring we don’t neglect you three with our own mess, I’ll check on Steward.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Meanwhile, the Staff is resting in the corner of my room and I’ve been avoiding so much as looking at it. I’m trying to live my life as though the previous incident never happened. Though it’s not going well. I keep getting visions of lost spirits and the Staff keeps on sprouting random vines, clearly trying to get my attention. Since I adopted Harir, I’ve been spoiling him rotten regardless of the situation because taking care of another living thing is therapeutic.*
Ancient One: Ignoring one’s problems is a way to make sure they stay around for longer. *She is floating in a lotus position, merely observing Steward.*
Me (quietly): I know…It’s just that every time I consider it, my heart starts racing again.
Ancient One (curious): Have you considered talking to Stephen about this? He has experience in what you are now facing.
Me: He’s busy. I’ve been giving him and Wong space while practicing my spellwork and doing the maintenance they assigned me to. That way, I’m still progressing in other ways without them having to worry about me.
Ancient One: You and I both know he is never too busy for you. If anything, I feel as if having a chance to help you learn from your relic would be a welcome distraction from the latest heart attack that you girls seem to cause. *She smirks serenely.*
Me: Ah. The Trix thing. Right… *I huff slightly.* I’m just glad she made it out okay.
Ancient One: As am I. I believe that she would not have had the chance if she had not gone through her experience with Agatha. Perhaps you will find that this is your Agatha, however you won’t know unless you test the waters. *She gestures down at Harir.* Would you be terrified of Harir if you focus on the fact that he is from the same make as the staff?
Me (taken aback): I…hadn’t thought about him that way. To me, he was always just a snake who was steeped in magic and accompanied me through the temple. Since he seemed to like me, I took him with me. I don’t begrudge him for what happened because he was trying to help me.
Ancient One: Just as the Staff wishes to help you in your mission. It is not due to the staff that you have this new role, it is due to the pledge you made. It merely wishes to assist its new master.
*I think about this for a moment.*
Me: You make a good point. It’s just difficult to finish processing everything. I simply wanted to help people. I didn’t expect THAT to be the way I go about it.
Ancient One: True. *She ponders for a moment.* I felt the same way when I first started channeling energy from the dark dimension. Yet, though people may be scared of things that we find as our everyday, it is part of the whole that helps us help other people. You are uniquely qualified to help those who would normally be trapped for eternity. They will certainly be happy for your help.
Me: I suppose it’s not too bad. It doesn’t have that many strings attached, in retrospect. I was already helping spirits. This is just helping them using better equipment.
Ancient One: In fact, I believe he blessed you with more than you have yet realized. *She smiles.*
Me: Stephen did say that my astral connection has become more…flexible. Hm. Let me try something…*I look at her and reach over to touch her without projecting just to see if it works.*
*The Ancient One takes Steward’s hand with both of hers.*
Ancient One (wryly): It’s been quite a while since I have held someone’s hand. I thank you for the privilege. *She’s genuinely happy.*
*My eyes widen.*
Me (quietly): It DID work…*I’m slightly awkward, but happy.* Erm…You’re welcome.
*The Ancient One chuckles as she lets Steward’s hand go. She knows that the medium doesn’t do touch as well as others.*
Ancient One: So that’s another positive aspect other than Harir and helping people. What other things can you remember that he mentioned?
Me: Apparently, my soul is now infused with traces of divine ichor. Not sure what that can do, but if I can physically touch spirits now, who knows? With the new connections, they think I might be able to transcend planes of existence.
Ancient One (patiently): Perhaps the veil will part for you both ways, I am not certain. This universe is unfamiliar with the type of gods your universe possesses. I would recommend waiting for Stephen and Wong before trying so they don’t find your body and think the worst.
Me: Right…I’ll go talk to them. *I take a deep breath to steady my nerves before picking up the Staff. It seems pleased that I’ve taken it up again. I’m still slightly unnerved by it, but privately opt to do my best.* Thank you, Ancient One. *I give her a bow to show my gratitude and respect.*
*She bows back with a smile.*
Ancient One: It is always a pleasure to help you reach your potential, Steward. I believe you chose your name well and it’s only just coming to fruition. *With that, she drifts away.*
Me (gently offering my hand to Harir): Okay, you can come along if you want, Harir.
*The snake slithers onto my hand and up my arm to curl around it like a bracelet. His head peeks slightly out of my sleeve. I stand up and leave my quarters to find Stephen. The sorcerer in question has finished his talk with Trix and is looking for me on the grounds since I tend to roam around a lot in my free time. He didn’t know that I was hiding in my quarters before. I opt to hang around under a ginko tree, knowing he has to pass by here to walk back into the complex. After around 20 minutes, he’s on his way back and sees me standing there quietly, leaning on the Staff.*
Me: You doing okay, Stephen?
Stephen: Actually, I was about to ask you the same question. Wong and I were so occupied with the other issues that we haven’t been there for you three. You’ve been very quiet and scarce over the past week. Are you okay?
Me: Admittedly, not great…It’s been a lot.
Stephen: Want to talk about it?
Me: I did a bit with The Ancient One, but I’m open to more advice. If it isn’t too upsetting, how did you make peace with your deaths? I’ve only done it once, but it still scares me.
*He hesitates for a moment, a mix of emotions crossing his face all at once. Then, he takes a deep breath and steadies himself.*
Stephen: Let’s sit down first so we can be more comfortable.
*He conjures some comfortable cushions to sit under the tree with. That way, it’s a more relaxing atmosphere. We’re both quiet for a moment before he begins to speak.*
Stephen: To be honest, I was putting all of my faith in the time loop that I created. However when it DID happen, in the space between the sections of the loop, it was rather quick most times. It was unnerving, but also calm in a way. Coming back was always the most painful part.
*I listen intently.*
Stephen: You never truly get used to dying, but because you know how limited our time is in this plane of existence, you learn to appreciate the capacity you have for doing and cherishing the good in this world. It can be a bit melancholic at times, but the quality time you get to spend with your loved ones evens it out. *He looks at me, studying my face for a moment before his eyes drift over to the Staff.* Have you studied your relic at all?
Me (slightly ashamed): I haven’t. After dying to get it, I became rather apprehensive about it. It took a decent amount of coaxing from The Ancient One to convince me to bring it along with me this afternoon.
Stephen (understanding): I don’t blame you. Would it help if we worked on studying it together?
Me: I’d like that, yes.
*He reaches over and gently squeezes my shoulder comfortingly.*
Stephen: Then consider it done.
*I give him an appreciative nod.*
Stephen: Let’s head to the library. Trix should be there with Wong right now. We can start by doing some research. Since quite a bit of our mythologies overlap, there may be some information here.
Me: All right. Let’s do it, then.
*In an effort to get used to using the Staff, I brace myself against it to help myself get up from the cushion. It doesn’t hurt as much that way. I’m relieved. Stephen sends the cushions away and we make our way to the library to join Trix and Wong.*
Me (looking at Trix as we enter): You all right, Trix? Any info on that ring?
Trix (shrugging her shoulders): I’m okay, just a bit exhausted. No information here unfortunately. Just some hunches based on how our universe’s Loki acted and why he might want a relic. *She looks over at Wong.*
Wong: This one is not particularly interested in global or universe-level conquest. They seem to act on the slightest whim and only seek challenges that they know that they stand a chance at winning.
Trix (grinning): Makes me feel even better that he ran from me then. *She turns back to Steward and Stephen.* So far based on some meditation it seems to be happiest in the library. 333-Loki absolutely captured me so he could study my magic and find out about the magic here so he’s an absolute nerd, not that I can judge. So, the ring is probably related to knowledge at least. *Suddenly, she frowns and looks down at the ring.*
Wong: Hm? What do you detect?
*We all look over curiously.*
Trix (curious): It wants to show me something, I think. *She closes her eyes and lifts her left hand, meditating so she can ask the ring to show her what it wants. After a few moments, Trix begins to walk forwards blindly as she lets the relic guide her around the library, hand outstretched as the ring lightly tugs her along.*
*Wong watches Trix and we follow her along towards the back of the library. It looks like she’s headed to the masters’ section, but then she turns into a small room with shelves of damaged tomes, tools, and repair materials.*
*Her eyes are still closed as she reaches for a book on the shelf, not fumbling at all she grabs it and sets it on the workstation in front of her.*
Trix (murmuring): Show me.
*At her command, the book suddenly opens revealing torn-out pages and the most damaged sections of the book. Trix’s hair almost begins to stand on end as she raises her left hand and opens her eyes. They are glowing a bright familiar green as she channels the relic’s power. She reaches forward and almost seems to pluck an invisible string in front of her and the damaged book somehow begins to grow back its pages with everything intact. It looks brand new once more with nothing missing. As the green light fades from her eyes, Trix’s hair drops again and she staggers, catching herself on the work table.*
Me (concerned): You good?
Trix (slightly dazed): Yeah! Just still tired from before and coming out of meditation like that got me woozy!
Wong: This level of repair work without the Time Stone? Fascinating. *He looks it over, silently marveling at what Trix has done using her relic.*
Stephen: Maybe this is because they never had or destroyed their version of Infinity Stones…If they even have any. *His mind is already churning with potential theories.*
*Trix hums to herself for a moment.*
Trix: The Band of Papyri. That’s the only thing it actually ‘said’ to me if you could say that it ‘spoke’. The rest were all nudges and feelings.
Wong: We shall continue to test this out. Please keep us posted on any updates.
Trix (smirking): As if you won’t be around whenever I’m in here now with the band.
*Wong is silently amused by her calling him out. At least after everything for the past week, the tense atmosphere is finally fading. Some of the old warmth from before is coming back.*
Trix: I do think I want to keep the band’s abilities within our inner circle of people though. It could go horribly if people started unearthing rituals or spells that should stay buried if they managed to get ahold of it. It’s subtle enough.
Me: Mum’s the word. I think I’ve a decent testimonial about dangerous artifacts already. *I smirk, finally making a morbid joke. The humor is at least a sign that I’m starting to heal.*
*Trix smiles back at her.*
Trix: You’re doing a bit better now, though, right?
Me (reassuring): Getting there. It does seem like we’re both trying to “make nice” at this point. *I give the Staff a respectful glance.*
Trix: Well that’s a start!
Me: OH! I forgot to say…There IS one new development on my end. Apparently, if I concentrate, I can physically touch spirits without having to project now. The Ancient One was nice enough to let me test it out.
Trix (shocked): That’s amazing!
Stephen (impressed): That IS an interesting update.
Wong: Indeed. Just be careful. If you can touch them, then they can do the same to you. Remember to protect yourself.
Me: I will.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Meanwhile at Karmar-Taj, Prettywitch is busy bouncing a ball of pure energy against the wall using a shield for practice, doing her best to ignore her pen. She wants to try it out, but is nervous of what might happen without Stephen here to assist her.*
Clea: That’s not how you use a shield.
Prettywitch: *She screams and turns to Clea.* Oh, Clea. *She breathes a deep sigh.* You scared the shit out of me.
Clea: *She shrugs.* It’s not my fault you scare easily.
*Prettywitch pouts.*
Clea: *She walks over to the girl.* You haven’t touched the pen since we’ve returned, have you?
Prettywitch: No. I’m worried about what might happen without Stephen here. So I figured I’d get in some shield practice till he gets back.
Clea: By yourself?
Prettywitch: I couldn’t find anyone to practice with.
Clea: I’ll practice with you.
Prettywitch: Really!?
Clea: *She nods.* In fact, I can even teach a few tricks I know, if you’d like.
*Prettywitch gets starry-eyed and hugs the mystic maiden, making her cheeks turn beet-red.*
Prettywitch: Oh! Thank you, Clea! I don’t know how I can repay you!
Clea: *Still blushing.* You don’t have to pay me anything.
Prettywitch: I know, but I want to. How about I introduce you to some music you and Stephen can listen to when you guys are alone or if you need a pick-me up.
Clea (thinking): It would be nice having some music to set the mood…Alright, you have a deal.
Prettywitch: Awesome! Now I have one question for you…*She pulls out her phone.* Has Stephen introduced you to New Jack Swing!?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*It’s been a few days and Trix and Wong have been hard to pry out of the library, too busy trying out experiments on the various broken books in the repair shop with the door closed so no one knows what they’re truly up to other than some green light glowing from underneath the door. They’re working on some of the experiments with the Band now.
Trix (curiously): Hey Wong, what are some of the oldest books you have in the library. They’re bound to have some damage, right?
Wong: They do. Come.
*He gestures and directs her even deeper into the library than she has ever been before. At times, Trix can still get lost in the sea of shelves. The library of Kamar-Taj contains many hidden depths. Wong seems to know the entire place like the back of his hand, though. After several twists and turns, they come to a locked room. Wong chants a brief, but complex incantation and there’s a soft click before the door swings open. The room inside is clearly temperature and humidity-controlled with soft lighting to avoid further damaging the multitude of tablets, scrolls, tomes, and sheets of various fabrics within. They are all clearly ancient, some hardly recognizable as reading material. All of them have varying degrees of damage. There’s a strange sort of energy buzzing throughout this chamber.*
Trix (in awe): Wow… how old even are these? *She slightly panics* Do we need to decontaminate?
Wong (smirking): What do you think the energy field surrounding us is doing?
Trix (realizing): Oh. Oh! That’s amazing! I’m surprised that this kind of energy field isn’t used in the infirmary as well but considering how ancient the library itself must be versus the rest of Kamar-Taj… *She cuts herself off from rambling and blushes*
*Wong shrugs*
Wong: These kinds of spells are highly specialized. *He looks at her for a moment before speaking again.* Which volume catches your eye?
*Trix blinks in surprise for a moment before looking around the room again, this time focusing on the various items specifically. She drops into a sort of semi-trance as she tries to focus on everything as she slowly walks around the room, careful not to touch anything. Finally, she stops in front of a very very old book that, if she can make it out correctly, has all three of the sanctum sigils on the spine.*
Trix (pointing at it): This one.
Wong: A good choice. Especially given your approaching duties. *He smirks.*
Trix: Really? I can tell it’s about the sanctums, but have you been able to find out what it says about them in it?
Wong: Beyond the chapters dealing with their establishment and the enchantments placed upon them, no. It does cite the protective qualities of the Sanctums to defend against mystical threats to Earth. However, the rest of the book has long since been destroyed by the myriad of apocalypses and disasters. There are very few existing fragments left with some scattered words here and there, but I and my predecessors were never able to make them out.
Trix (grinning): Until now… *She frowns* I know we’ve been testing the Band’s power and the older a book is, the more power it takes. I know it’s tempting to find out what this book contained but will you keep me from going too far?
Wong (in a slight warning, but reassuring): This book predates even The Ancient One by countless eons. Technically, by any other logic, it should not even exist in this form. Given its shrouded past and modern-esque state despite existing before the invention of paper, we strongly suspect that it may have originated from another universe. Perhaps from a civilization whose timeline has long since faded into oblivion seeing as nobody has ever crossed over to reclaim it. From the many past librarians’ memories, all of them have reported that this book was already damaged. It has always been damaged and has been preserved in this state for thousands of years. I will watch you, but should any adverse effects take hold, I WILL stop you.
*Trix nods.*
Trix: Good. *She looks around again at the room.* I know that it’s better to keep the book in here but I’m also hesitant to use the relic in here as well.
Wong: Very well, but we will not go beyond the masters’ section. It is more secure.
*Before they can take the book along, there is a wave of disturbance washing over the complex. They can hear a faint crashing noise outside.*
*Trix glances over at Wong.*
Trix (warily): I somehow doubt that was just an apprentice accident.
Wong (flatly): It was not. Gear up. I will contact the others.
*Trix nods and summons her master's robes onto herself. She carefully exits the heavily warded room before beginning to sprint towards where the disturbance seems to be.*

i. bakugo katsuki
- doesn’t like napping cause he insists on keeping his sleep schedule tight. not that you can really get mad at him over that - hero work is busy and he doesn’t like being tired cause it makes him more aggravated than usual.
- so he avoids naps almost at all costs and rarely gets tired. his sleep schedule is really, really good.
- not so much the same for you though.
- bakugo accepted pretty early on that you were something of a night-owl. bad sleep anxiety and just generally having too much energy at night made it so that he rarely ever saw you go to bed. you were at least lagging a few hours behind him like. at all times.
- he didn’t really mind at first, but at some point he realized just how little sleep you actually got. one time he woke up at 7am, surprised to see you also awake - only to find out you hadn’t slept the entire night.
- he was pissed. after almost blowing up your kitchen, he sighed and basically told you that if you need helping sleeping to just “fucking ask him” or else.
- needless to say, it didn’t get that much better. you two compromised by setting a time that you had to be in bed by, even if you weren’t asleep. whenever bakugo has time, he’s always trying to get you to rest but sometimes his schedule doesn’t really allow him to check up on you how he likes.
- he’s coming home from a long mission. not super tired but just tedious work. he just wanted to relax. it was late, 3:37am on the clock when he finally walks in.
- to his surprise - there’s a light on in the kitchen. when he walks in, very confused, he sees you sliding cookies off of a sheetpan into a little plastic tupperware. he stops. he stares.
- why the hell were you baking at three in the fucking morning
- “what the fuck are you doing awake?”
- you jump back with a hand over your chest, barely catching your breath. you blink a few times before sighing.
- “baking. i didn’t think you’d be home so soon”
- he hears it before he sees it. your voice is absolutely tattered - he can literally hear how exhausted you are. he pumps the breaks, walking towards you swiftly before staring down at you hard.
- “when was the last time you slept,”
- you press your lips into a tight smile, and he sees the dark purple under your eyes. he feel his heart hurt a little. his hands come up to your face as he brushes his thumb every so slightly against your lashes.
- “it’s uh.. hard to sleep without you. more than usual, you know”
- “Y/N”
- “i don’t know. maybe two or three days ago properly? i mean i got some sleep in between but -,”
- he stops you before you can start. he shuts the cookie container and leaves the tray in the sink before grabbing your hand a little forcefully and tugs you to the bathroom - lifting you up onto the counter. you know to stay put.
- when he comes back it’s with a fresh change of clothes for the both of you. you blink at him owlishly as he strips himself off of his clothes - grateful he took time to shower at the agency.
- he takes his shirt off and then takes yours off too, before pulling you right towards him. your arms instantly are around his neck, the warmth of his body pressed against your figure with his chin tucked over your shoulder.
- and god - he’s so comforting you kind of want to cry. he smells like clean soap and deodorant and a little like smoke. feeling his skin against yours makes you feel instant relief. just hugging in the bathroom has you falling half asleep. you were just so tired.
- when he pulls back, his whole face looks so damn worried it makes you want to cry. you put your own hands on his face and cheek, brushing your thumb on his cheek bone as he rests his forehead on yours.
- “dumbasss. i can leave something with you if it’s that bad - fuck, you could’ve called me, you know?”
- and you sigh and smile and kiss him a bit before pulling away again. man, you’re tired. you’re so, so tired.
- “yeah.. i know,”
- he helps you get undressed and freshened up, even rubs your facewash into your skin and rubs all your skincare in before hauling you off the bed. he turns the lights dim and just holds you, rubbing circles into your back as he holds you right to his chest.
- “go to fucking sleep,” “love you katsuki” “..love you too”
- he doesn’t sleep until you do, and wakes up the next morning to call in sick for you while you sleep against his chest. he should probably wake up but.. sleeping a bit longer won’t kill him.
{♡} —— { ♡ } —— {♡}
ii. kirishima eijirou
- kirishima likes to wake up pretty early so he can workout and do his cardio at the start of his day and his weightlifting later on. sleeping well is important to him cause his workout routine is super unforgiving if he’s not resting properly on rest days and the like. building muscles absolutely requires sleep!
- that being said - he doesn’t mind not sleeping early if he has something to do. drinking especially normally keeps him up on weekends. overall, it was good but he doesn’t limit himself.
- overall, it’s not something he paid a ton of attention too. life is all about balance so kiri goes with the flow. his rule of thumb is trying to get at least 8 hours a night tho.
- but because kirishima is so go with the flow - it took him a long time to figure out that you were a night owl and something of an insomniac. he assumed that when he wished you goodnight everday, you fell asleep around the same time as him.
- but one drunken even, he finds himself stumbling to your apartment. knocking on your and barely standing upright - he immediately is planning on apologizing for disturbing your sleep.
- but then you.. open the door and you’re literally wide awake. you look tired but you’re clearly not sleepy. kirishima, once gain, blasted - pushes the thoughts to the back of his mind and grins toothily. he’s just excited to see you at that point and forgets about the whole ordeal until a few weeks later.
- he ends up texting you about it a couple weeks later, assuming it’d be a once off thing that you’d explain to him.
- ... is upset and shocked to learn that you rarely, if ever fall asleep before two am like on a good day. poor man is in shock for the rest of the day and proceeds to ask you about why you have a hard time to sleeping to try and see what he can do.
- he wants to help but you just keep brushing it off and it honestly made him so upset he didn’t know what to do with himself. he couldn’t sleep a wink that night because the whole thing is bothering him so damn much.
- what really sets him off is when he finally has a chance to see you after a few weeks. you were busy with uni and didn’t really have a ton of time to see him so the two of you couldn’t see each other properly for a few weeks.
- he’s elated to see you. he’s missed his baby so much and he’s pulling all the stops out when he’s getting dressed. jeans cuffed, his best cologne, fresh shaved, brand new sneakers. he really wants to impress.
- he’s wrapping you up into the tightest hug when he see’s you. your dressed comfortably but he still thinks you look so beautiful and he’s complimenting you, giving you kisses and overall just doting on you. he wraps your hand in his yours and just talks.
- in fact, he’s so excited to see you, he doesn’t notice how..deflated you are. not at first anyways.
- but as the date goes on, it becomes more and more obvious you don’t share his enthusiasm in the same way.
- sure, he’s talkative but you haven’t said a word about how your week has been. all of his jokes have been met with mere huffs and forced chuckles and your eyes seem really distant.
- it hits him all at once at the end of your date when you just seem so... out of it. he’s about to take you somewhere else but you stopped listening a while ago. kirishima stops dead in his tracks and holds your hand nervously, calling you a few times to get your attention.
- “Y/N.. are you mad at me? is something wrong?”
- your eyes go wide, flailing your hands to reassure him. you knew you were acting strange but to see kirishima this upset makes you feel awful.
- “oh kiri - god no, it’s not you. sorry for being so.. distant - it’s not you,”
- “well then.. what’s wrong?”
- kirishima feels his heart get pierced when he sees you laugh. you look... so exhausted. your eyes are so heavy and the makeup on your skin is only barely concealing your dark circles. why did it take him so long to notice?
- before he can even reply, he remembers that little tidbit about your sleep schedule. his heart so genuinely aches.
- “Y/N.. when was the last time you got any proper sleep?”
- you flinch, visibly at the question. with an awkward laugh you inform him that it had been at least a week since you’ve had the time to actually sleep.
- “why didn’t you sleep today? on your day off?”
- “i uhm.. wanted to see you. i know you had a date planned and i was excited to see you. sorry for.. ruining your plans”
- he’s devastated by how cute you are. hugs you so damn tight.
- “baby, you can see me whenever. im happy being with you even if all we’re doing is napping together”
- when you mumble a soft “oh” in his chest, he can’t help but melt into a sigh. before you can protest, he’s dragging you back to his car and driving you home ignores your protests and buckles you, covering you with his jacket before kissing the crown of your head and telling you to sleep on the way back to his place.
- he watches you like a hawk the whole time until he arrives at his place. he wakes you up and carries you on his back until he gets inside. all he does is kick his shoes off before pulling the full weight of you down on his body, kissing your whole face.
- “sleep well baby. ill wake you up in a few”

Little Blue Shells
Summary: When you find out that Wanda has never played Mario Kart before you insist on teaching her how.
Pairing: Wanda x female reader
Genre: Fluff
Words: 3k
Warnings: There's a fair bit of swearing in this one, and some heavy sexually charged tension, so not the best story for young eyes.
It had started out with an innocent comment.
You had been sitting in one of the living rooms in the compound, talking with Wanda and Sam as you waited for the others to finish their training session. The plan was for the team to have a movie night as a chance to bond. It had been a while since you were all at the compound at the same time, with no one off on a mission or visiting family.
You were looking forward to the movie, as it would give you a chance to spend more time with Wanda. You remember the last movie night when she had fallen asleep on your shoulder, her soft breaths tickling your neck with every exhale. You wish you could have frozen that moment to live in it forever.
So maybe you had a little crush on your teammate, it’s not like it was hurting anyone right? You were pretty sure no one else knew about your attraction to the brunette. Well except for Natasha, the smirks she would send you when she caught you staring led you to believe she definitely knew how you felt.
You glance at Wanda and find yourself in awe of her beauty once again. The way her green eyes seemed to sparkle in the sunlight that was streaming in through the window, the light dusting of freckles across her nose, the softness of her skin, the small tug of her lips curling into the faintest smile as she listened attentively.
She shifts her eyes to you, and you quickly turn your head, a blush flooding your cheeks at being caught staring. You tune back into Sam as he finishes recounting a story from when he ran track in high school.
“- so there I was, coming first by a long way, when some idiot in the crowd throws their frisbee onto the track. I didn’t notice it until it was too late. It hit me in the ankle and I ended up tripping over, breaking my wrist, and coming last in the race.” He finishes his story, shaking his head at the memory, and laughing at the absurdity of it all.
You chuckle at the story and Wanda joins in, the sweet sound making your heart flutter.
“That sounds about as bad as getting hit by a blue shell!” you reply, doubling over in laughter at the look of horror on Sam’s face.
“Oh no,” he disagrees, “I’d rather break both my wrists than get hit with a blue shell.”
You look at Wanda and roll your eyes at his dramatics, only to find her looking puzzled, her nose scrunching up adorably in confusion.
“I don’t get it,” she comments, looking between the both of you in bafflement, “what’s a blue shell?”
“The blue shells in Mario Kart,” you say slowly, waiting for recognition to cross her features. When none comes, you look at her horrified. “Wanda,” you ask gently, “have you never played Mario Kart before?”
She looks at you sheepishly before shaking her head, “We never had video games growing up, and since I moved here, I’ve been so busy with training and missions that I haven’t really thought about learning to play them.” She looks down at her hands, curling in on herself slightly in embarrassment.
“Well we have to fix that, don’t we?” you say, looking at Sam to see him nodding in agreement. The way Wanda looks up and smiles at you in gratitude makes warmth bloom in your chest.
//
It didn’t take long for you to find your old console, hooking it up to the tv in the living room. You had shown Wanda the basics of how to maneuver the character and went over the main rules of the game. Then you talked her through a few practice rounds until she felt confident.
Sam had wandered off in search of food while you did this, returning to the room with various plates piled high with snacks. He places the food down on the table in the centre of the room, before grabbing a controller and sitting in front of the tv.
“So are we ready to do this?” he asks, turning around to flash the two of you a menacing smile. “I just want to warn you two that just because you’re girls, doesn’t mean I’m going to go easy on you.”
You narrow your eyes at him as you pick up your own controller. “Bring it, Wilson,” you reply, cracking your neck for dramatic effect.
Wanda giggles at the two of you, before shoving your shoulder playfully. “C’mon guys, it’s just a game. Let’s just have fun with it.”
“Oh Wanda darling, you have no idea what you’re getting yourself into,” you murmur softly as you scroll through the menu option to set up a multiplayer championship, missing the way her eyes widen at your words.
You all choose your characters and your vehicles, and then the race is counting down to start.
“May the best Avenger win,” you hear Sam call out as the light goes green and your character zips off the starting line.
You have to hand it to Wanda, she picked up the game pretty quickly. She kept up with you and Sam for most of the race, coming in third by a very narrow margin. The game transitions into the next race and you find yourself trading insults with Sam as the two of you vie for first place. Wanda listens to the gentle ribbing with an amused smile on her face as she concentrates on navigating through the course.
The three of you continue to play for the better part of an hour, and soon Wanda finds herself feeling just as competitive as you and Sam. She’s about to finish the race, and for once she was leading. There was an air of excitement about her as she rounded the last corner, victory in her sights. The out of nowhere, she sees a blue shell circling her player before hitting it, sending it into the air. She watches as your character zips past her to the finish line, claiming another win.
“Motherfucker,” she whispers, and the sound of her swearing stops your victory cheer in your throat. Your eyes widen and your stomach clenches, the profanity spilling past her lips doing funny things to your insides.
“Sorry,” she says, a blush staining her cheeks as she looks at you and Sam. “I guess I just got caught up in the game.”
“Don’t sweat it Maximoff,” Sam replies, his tone amused, “You’re not really playing Mario Kart unless you’re swearing at the tv.”
You’re still staring at Wanda, your heart beating wildly in your chest as you replay the moment over and over in your head.
“What?” she asks you when she notices your gaze, tilting her head slightly.
You shake your head to clear it of the thoughts that had settled there, wondering about other ways you could get her to swear like that.
“Nothing,” you replied, your voice coming out breathless. You clear your throat before continuing, “I just don’t think I’ve ever heard you swear before.”
“Oh,” Wanda replies, her cheeks reddening further, “sorry.”
“What, no it’s fine,” you stutter out, “just took me by surprise that’s all.”
Your eyes remain locked for a few seconds until a loud cough sounds in the room and you look over at Sam, his eyes twinkling with mischief. “If you two are done having your moment,” he teases, and you scowl at him, “can we get back to the game?”
You both nod awkwardly, not meeting each other’s gaze and you begin the next race.
//
The longer you play, the more invested Wanda becomes in the game. She’s joined in the trash-talking now and has even won a few games. But you’ve noticed that the more competitive she becomes, the more she swears. And it’s totally fine, you don’t mind the language at all.
Except you find it incredibly hot, and every time a curse falls from her lips you find yourself distracted.
From the whispered motherfucker earlier to the loud son of a bitch uttered when she ran into a banana, the piece of shit growled out when she fell off the side of the Rainbow Road or the fucking asshole that was yelled as she was hit with a green shell. Every single one was having an effect on you, and you were beginning to feel very warm.
The team had slowly begun to trickle in after their training session had ended, popping their heads in to see what had gotten Wanda so riled up. They all found her cursing amusing, the normally level-headed Avenger being affected by a video game.
Movie night had been postponed in favour of a Mario Kart tournament at Tony’s insistence. Pizza was ordered and a draw for the game was made up. The first few rounds had been disastrous for you, your mind too preoccupied to focus on the game.
You were currently playing against Wanda, Steve, and Sam; the four of you sitting next to each other on the large sofa, controllers clutched tightly in your hands. The stakes were high as this was the first knockout round. All you needed to do was place top three, which you figured would be an easy feat considering Steve was absolute rubbish at the game.
You were on your third lap, and while you weren’t winning, you were fairly confident you would survive the round and save yourself the embarrassment of losing to a dinosaur. That was until Wanda was hit by a red shell, sending her toppling off the edge of a cliff and causing her to lose her first place position. The way Sam cackled told you he had been the one to throw it, but it was Wanda’s reaction that had your brain short-circuiting.
“Oh, fuck me!” she groaned in frustration, the guttural sound sending a shiver down your spine and you turned to gape at her. In the few seconds it took for you to recollect your thoughts, Steve had zipped past your character who had driven into a wall, and was heading toward the finish line. You tried to catch up, but it was too late and he cheered as he passed the black and white checkers.
You dropped your controller, head falling into your hands as the team began to pay out on you for being the first to be knocked out. You felt a soft hand on your shoulder and you looked up to see Wanda looking at you tenderly, her hand rubbing your shoulder comfortingly. Her touch was doing nothing to help the heat that has settled between your thighs and you find your breathing picking up slightly.
“Don’t listen to them,” she whispered to you, “it was a tough race.”
Your only response was to nod at her, hoping you don’t look as stunned as you feel. Thankfully she seems happy with that, and she removes her hand from your shoulder. You shakily stand from the couch, hands shaking as you drop the controller in Natashas lap. You notice the way she smirks at you, but thankfully she says nothing.
You sit down on the floor in front of the sofa as Natasha, Tony, Bucky, and Clint take over the controllers for the next round, trying to regain control of your thundering heart.
You watched as the rounds progressed, sulking slightly after being knocked out, but you soon get over it and join in with teasing of the remaining players. The laughter was frequent amongst the team and you were happy to be part of such a carefree evening.
Wanda continues to swear profusely during her turns, and it continues to drive you wild, but you figure that you can handle it for a few more hours until the tournament is over.
//
Eventually, it’s down to the top four: Natasha, Clint, Wanda, and Bruce. They were halfway through the first of three knockout races to determine who would be crowned the winner. The eliminated members of the team were watching on with interest, cheering the remaining contestants on.
You’re watching the screen, cheering Wanda on as she takes the lead from Clint. He scowls at the screen, drifting around a corner as he attempts to catch up. You look at Wanda and notice the proud smile on her face, her eyes watching the screen with determination. Her fingers are gripping the controller tightly and you gulp as your mind wanders, contemplating what it would feel like to have those same fingers gripping y- No! You think to yourself, cutting your thoughts off before they become too out of control.
Suddenly you notice a blue shell appear on the map, and you try to warn Wanda but it’s too late. Her character is flipped upside down and Natasha sails past her with a triumphant smile on her face.
“Stupid, motherfucking blue shells. I fucking hate them so damn much!” Wanda grounds out through her teeth as she races to catch up. Your brain clouds over again at her words, once again finding her dirty mouth incredibly appealing. You wonder if she swears like that in the bedroom, wonder what it would be like to learn which parts of her body cause her to curse the most when they’re given attention.
Your heart is beating rapidly, your thighs clench together as your body is flooded with lust. You feel your face beginning to heat with your thoughts and you quickly stand up and excuse yourself from the room.
You race into the hallway, shivering as the cool air hits your flushed skin. You’re close enough that you can still hear the team in the next room, their voices indicating that the race is over. The way that Clint is loudly complaining, you gather that he was the one who was knocked out. You rest your back against the wall and close your eyes, attempting to control your breathing before going back in.
Just two more races, you think to yourself, I just need to make it through two more races.
You’re startled from your thoughts by the sound of Wanda calling your name. You open your eyes and see her walking toward you, her eyes full of worry. You know you’ve been acting strange all day, but you can’t get her out of your head.
Especially now, when she’s so close you can smell the scent of peaches from her shampoo. The moonlight from the nearby window washes over the hallway and casts the two of you in the shadows.
“Are you okay?” she asks, her tone concerned.
“Just needed to clear my head,” you reply, your voice sounding needy and desperate even to your own ears. You close your eyes again, trying to gain some semblance of control.
“Are you sure? You’re breathing really hard,” she places her hand on your forehead, the action has you snapping your eyes open, getting lost in hers, “and your forehead is really warm.”
She bites her lower lip in concern, and you have a strong urge to pull it from between her teeth and run your thumb over it.
So you do.
She gasps as you run your thumb over her plump lower lip tenderly, and you freeze, withdrawing your hand as if it had been burned.
“I-I’m sorry, I don’t know why I did that,” you stumble over your words, your eyes darting around wildly, refusing to meet hers.
She’s breathing heavily, you can feel the warm puffs of air hitting your neck, causing you to shiver. She’s still standing in front of you though, she hasn’t recoiled in disgust like you were anticipating.
You chance a look at her and find her pupils dilated, a hungry look in her eyes. Her lips are parted and her eyes are locked on your face. She takes a small step forward, her body now flush with yours, and her eyes flicker down to your lips.
You swallow loudly, your mouth going dry with anticipation. She begins leaning forward, her eyes searching yours for any sign of hesitation. You smile slightly and she returns it, her lips only an inch away from yours.
“Hey, Wanda?” Steve’s voice calls out down the hallway, causing her to pull back from you in surprise, “Are you coming back for the last race? Natasha is getting impatient.”
You’re thankful for the darkness, knowing that Steve couldn’t see the way your bodies were pressed together, the way that Wanda’s hand rose to grip your waist, or how you were clutching her shoulders.
“No, I quit,” she calls back down the hallway to him, her eyes never leaving yours. You smile widely, and her grin matches yours.
“Okay, suit yourself,” you hear him reply, his voice sounding confused before you hear the sound of his footsteps retreating back toward the game and the rest of the team.
This time when Wanda leans in, you meet her halfway. Your hands trail from her shoulders to tangle in her hair as your lips meet hers. Her lips are firm against yours, sending tingles throughout your entire body.
You feel her hands tighten on your waist as her tongue darts out to swipe along your bottom lip. You part your lips and grant her access, a moan caught in the back of your throat as your tongues dance together. She pushes more of her weight against you, tilting her head for better access to your mouth. You gasp into the kiss as her hand trails up your side, the feather-light touch leaving goosebumps in its wake. You don’t know how long you kiss for, but soon your lungs are burning from the lack of oxygen, but you don’t want to pull away, not when you know how good it feels to have her lips on yours.
She breaks the kiss first, pulling away panting, and rests her forehead against yours. You’re breathing hard, your chest rising and falling rapidly against hers. “Well fuck,” she whispers, her voice thick with her accent. The words send a shiver down your spine, your stomach clenching. “I’ve waited a long fucking time for that,” she confesses.
When she leans in for another kiss, you know you don’t ever want it to end.

“No, you can’t do this, Bucky!” You follow Bucky into your shared bedroom as he begins packing a bag. He got it into his head that he was more than capable to help Sam out on this new mission. However, it would be against the rules of the pardon the president gave him for being the Winter Soldier.
“Sam needs my help, y/n. I can’t leave him to go alone on this mission.”
“Sam does not need your help. If you go on this mission and get caught, they could take away your pardon and put you in jail. For life!”
“That’s why we won’t get caught.”
“There is no guarantee of that.” You shake your head and cross your arms over your chest. Bucky wasn’t seeing things clearly and it only angered you more that he was willing to put his freedom on the line for a mission. Especially after everything you and him went through to get to this very moment. It was like he was throwing all this hard work away.
“I have to go.” He says, facing you. His voice is stern, “This isn’t up for negotiation.”
“You do not have to go! You are not obligated to do anything someone tells you anymore. You’re a free man, Bucky.” You grasp his hands in yours, “You and I are free to live our lives, Bucky.. no crazy missions, no wars, no danger. We can be a normal couple.”
“We can’t be a normal couple y/n,” He lets go of your hands, “Not with a past like mine.” He grabs his bag from the bed then stares into your tear-filled eyes.
“We worked our asses off to get here today, Bucky! Those hours we spent in therapy, the hours spent trying to figure out how to move past your winter soldier days. You’re throwing all of it away on a mission! You’re.. you’re throwing a future with me away.”
“He needs my help.” Is all he says as he pushes passed you.
“If you walk out that door, Bucky Barnes, I promise you, that I will not be here when you get back.” You warn with tear filled eyes. You’d hoped Bucky’s love for you and the fear of losing you would overpower his overwhelming desire to help people when they need it even if it wasn’t the right thing to do. You didn’t know at the time if you truly meant the words spoken and if you could really bring yourself to leave Bucky even after everything the two of you had been through.
He doesn’t turn around or even look back at you over his shoulder and instead walks through the door, leaving you standing alone in your once shared bedroom. That was the only answer you needed.
~
Bucky left for that mission with Sam and you packed all your things heading for your favorite place, y/f/p. There were no avengers around you so there was no one to tell where you would be. No one knew of your location except for you, and this was probably toxic to think about, but you hoped it scared Bucky that he didn’t know where you would be. It was wrong of him to choose a mission over you, and you wanted him to see that. Yeah, it probably wasn’t the best way to show him, but you told him if he walked out the door you wouldn’t be there so you’re just sticking to your word.
In all honesty, Bucky didn’t think you were serious about leaving and that it was an in the moment thing for you to say. You’d been there for him during his recovery and he knew he didn’t make it easy on you but still you chose to stay. He was grateful to have you by his side especially after everyone around him left.
He was in for a rude awakening when he opened the door to your shared apartment. “Y/n? Doll?” He kicked off his shoes, knowing you hated when he tracked in dirt on his shoes. When you didn’t answer he proceeded through the apartment, only to find your favorite blanket that occupied the back of the couch was gone.
“y/n?” He called out once more, but no answer. As he made his way through the house, he realized none of your things were in the place you left them. When he entered the bedroom, he immediately started going through the drawers, but none of your things were in them. He pulled the door to the closet open and the only clothes occupying it were his.
You’d left him and it was all his fault.
~
He spent the next hour trying not to destroy the apartment. You had really left him, and he had no idea where you had gone. He called your phone, but it went straight to voicemail. He called Sam, but he had no idea where you’d be either.
Nat was dead; Wanda was off somewhere so that ruled out two people you would have told. Thor was in space with the Guardian’s. There had been no one for you to tell and he suddenly realized the severity of the situation. You were really gone, and he might never see you again.
~
It was a few days later and you decided to turn your phone back on. It was spammed with dozens of texts, calls and voicemails from Bucky. You tapped on a random voicemail and Bucky’s voice filled your ears.
“Doll… Please.” He’d been crying and his voice cracked, “I need you. I can’t do this without you and I was stupid to think some mission would fill my void of needing to do something.” He sniffles, “I finally have peace; something I haven’t had in a while and I guess I felt like a mission would make me feel better. That it would make me feel more like myself, but it wasn’t it. It wasn’t the answer.” There was a soft and quiet sob, “I need you, y/n. Please don’t do this, don’t leave me. I don’t have anyone else and you’re all I have.” More sobs, “You’re all I have,” and then the line beeped, ending the voicemail.
You would be lying if you weren’t crying by the end of the message. The sound of Bucky’s broken voice and the sobs. Now, everything began to make sense. Why he left, why he needed to go on that mission. He was beginning to feel peace after fighting war after war and thought that he needed to be fighting a war, doing something. It was his trauma response.
~
It was late when you entered the apartment and you figured Bucky would be asleep, so you were quiet. You headed for your bedroom and were surprised to find Bucky not in bed, but he was laid on the floor next to the bed. He hadn’t slept on the floor since he’d come home from fighting Thanos.
You set your things down in the floor and immediately made your way to him, “Bucky.”
He stirred in his sleep and you called out his name once more. You didn’t want to scare him by sneaking up on him. That was something you two had learned after the first time you did that trying to sneak into bed, careful not to wake him. He woke up in a panic and had attacked you. It was after that you two decided therapy would be a good idea.
“Bucky.”
He inhaled as he woke, his eyes scanning for danger, but he only sees yours, “Y/n.” He breaths out in relief.
Crawling next to him you laid down, your head going to his chest and you wrapped your free arm around him, “I’m here.”
His arms engulfed your body and he couldn’t help but start to sob. He just knew he’d lost you for good and it was all his fault. He’d been alone all those years and then you came along, and he didn’t want to be alone again.
You only tightened your arm around him, “I’m not going anywhere.”
You two laid like that the rest of the night, enveloped in each other’s arms. This was the peace Bucky longed for; the peace Bucky deserved. You were his peace, and he wasn’t going to lose it again.

Dating Advice
Sam Wilson x Reader
Summary: The avengers giving your boyfriend dating advice.
Word Count: 992
Warnings: fluff and eavesdropping... that’s it
Side Notes: This one is pretty straight forward, so enjoy!
Walking around the avengers compound you went to the lounge area to pick up your boyfriend. He had finished the day about an hour ago and waited until you were done but your meeting ran a little late. You were a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who specialized in undercover work to gather intel so the avengers and other field teams knew what they were getting into on a mission. You had gone undercover with almost all of the avengers as pretend friends, lovers, or spouses. All except Banner and Stark really, as Bruce didn’t do well with improvising and Tony was way too recognizable. Otherwise you had been married to Natasha, sister of Steve, best friend to Clint, fiancé to Rhodey, cousin to Bucky, and girlfriend to Sam. You got to know the team pretty well even Banner and Stark as you liked to help them out in the lab, they enjoyed the company and someone who was actually interested in what they were doing.
Just as you were about to round the corner you heard some of the team talking. Stopping in your tracks you waited and listened. You were definitely the cat whose curiosity was fabled to kill them.
“No, you have to be a gentleman. Pull out the chair, pay for the meal, and walk her to her door.” you heard Steve say. Dating advice? Who was the dating advice for? Who were they trying to ask out?
“I agree, you have to show her you’re a man.” Bucky agreed. Smiling to yourself of course the two men from the 1940’s were big on chivalry, it was sweet really.
“What? No, (y/n) won’t like that. We’re friends and we’ve worked out before. She’s tough and doesn’t like being doted on like that.” Natasha argued. So whoever the advice was for was trying to ask me out. My mouth went a little dry. You knew your boyfriend hadn't told anyone you were dating but if someone else tried to ask you out it could be a problem. He was protective and jealous, it sometimes made your job difficult.
Then Tony started, “Well regardless you should pamper her. Buy her gifts and take her out.” he paused, probably taking a drink. “But not a giant teddy bear-”
“Yeah, that one didn’t turn out too well for you, did it?” Clint teased. “Look, she probably won’t like getting pampered either. What matters is that you’re there for her.” the family man stated. He made a good point that’s what mattered to you the most.
“Look I appreciate all of the advice you guys are giving me but I think I’ll be alright. I know how to be a southern gentleman, but I won’t dote on her, I’ll do all I can to give her what she wants, and when have I ever not been there for anyone?” Sam said. So they were helping Sam with dating advice. Oh this was too good!
Knocking on the entryway you acted like you just got there by shuffling through your purse. “Ready to go? I’m so sorry the meeting ran as late as it did. Apparently I need to learn Sokovian too now.” Looking up at everyone you acted surprised. “Oh hey everyone! Sorry I didn’t know you were here. Did you want to stay here or are you ready to go?” You asked your boyfriend who was grinning like an idiot.
“No, I'm ready to go see you all tomorrow!” Sam called out. Getting up he walked toward you so you could head out to the parking lot. Everyone called out their goodbyes and you waved goodbye to them all as well.
On your way to the parking lot Sam put his arm around your waist. Looking up at him you gave him a peck on the check. He then gave you a peck on the lips and held you a little closer.
“So you still haven’t told them,” You said, “and now they’re watching us leave wondering how long this has been going on.” You both giggled.
“And you were eavesdropping on our conversation… again. How much did you hear?” Sam asked.
“I heard all the advice they gave you but that was it. Being a gentleman but don’t dote on me, pamper me, and always be by my side. They had some good ideas but you’re not doing so bad.” You summarized, Sam smiled at that, happy to hear that he had been a good boyfriend even though he knew it.
“And by now I’m sure our friends are watching and listening over the security cameras. Waiting for us to spill all the juicy details.” he said, stopping in front of a camera while you both waved.
“If you know what we want then say it bird brain!” Bucky called through the speaker system. Laughing you handed Sam the keys and gave him another kiss just to tease everyone watching.
“How about this weekend we all go out for drinks. We’ll answer all your questions. It’s been a long week anyway, we could all use a little break.” You replied going to the passenger side door but not getting in quite yet.
“Saturday night I’ll send you the address. And I am not paying for drinks!” Tony exclaimed. Of course he had to choose where you were going, he could be real picky sometimes. Giving the camera a thumbs up you got in the car. Facing Sam you both smiled.
“Honestly that went better than expected.” He said taking your hand and backing out of the parking lot.
“The real challenge will be on Saturday. Until then I have you all to myself.” Sam grinned like an idiot. He loved it when you called him yours. “We can get some takeout, then make caramel popcorn, and binge watch Lord Of The Rings.”
Glancing at you Sam squeezed your hand. “How did I end up with someone so perfect?”

Kiss Me
Kung Lao x Fem!Reader
AN: Kung Lao, my beloved. Wrote this while listening to Kiss Me More by Doja Cat ft. SZA, banger song. Not proof read yet‼️
Summary: Who doesn’t like when a little friendly rivalry turns into something more?
“You ready to meet your match this time?” Kung Lao chuckled, adjusting his footing and placing a hand on the tip of his hat.
“Course’ I am Lao,” (Y/n) huffed, getting into position, “When they get here make sure to let me know, yeah?”
This had become a daily occurrence. After dinner time, when lessons and training were done for the evening, the three of them would return to the court and cash in on a little sparring. It was their odd way of spending time together outside of missions, plus with the grand tournament coming up, they could use the extra practice.
Usually they had a rotation system that went Liu versus (Y/n), then (Y/n) versus Lao, then Liu versus Lao. They would rest a little after each match, then continue on per usual. However today’s session was going a little different.
Yesterday, (Y/n) had won against Lao and was so proud of her achievement she couldn’t help but rub it in, and Lao, being the prideful young man he was, demanded a rematch. He claimed the mission he’d gone on earlier that day had screwed him over physically. (Y/n) agreed to it, and now here they were.
“3...2...1... fight!” Liu Kang called out from the top on the stairs leading into the main hallway. As the pair lunged at each other, causing reddish brown puffs of dirt to fly off of the ground, he calmly sat and observed.
Minutes passed, and neither party seemed to have even made a scratch on the other. However, an impressive amount of blocking was being done by Kung Lao currently, so Liu assumed the victory would go to (Y/n). The girl had a giddy smile plastered across her face, and it seemed like she, too, expected the victory to be hers.
Liu turned to the side and reached for his water, but noticed he hadn’t brought any with him. He sighed and stood up.
“I’m going to fetch some water from the kitchen. Continue on, but please don’t wreck anything or kill each other. Master will have a fit and then I’ll receive part of the blame for not monitoring you two properly.” Liu said.
“Expect to come back to my—,” (Y/n) began before dodging a kick, “Another one of my victories!”
“Fat chance!”
Previous to all of this, the two friends already had some sort of tension between them. It started off as a friendly rivalry, competing for trifling things such as the last egg roll or using the bathroom first in the morning. But as the years passed, the competitons began to become more... personal. And so did the bickering. Somehow (Y/n) and Lao shifted from “if you don’t shut up I’m gonna kick your ass” to “if you don’t shut up, I’m gonna make you.”
Nevertheless, the three of them quite enjoyed their dynamic (despite Liu Kang shooting knowing looks at the two individually).
Now (Y/n) had Kung Lao backed into a corner with her (weapon/power) held against his neck. Lao strained his neck upwards, his left arm holding his hat behind his back.
“That was the saddest block I’ve seen all day, Lao. Do you yield yet?” (Y/n) smirked triumphantly.
He glanced down at her and huffed. “Watch your tongue, (Y/n).”
He swiftly slid his foot under her, knocking her off her feet, and brought his hat back up to his head before disappearing into the ground. He reappeared behind her and attempted to pin her to the ground, but she jumped up and tackled the boy, landing with her legs straddling Lao’s right one and her hand on his chest.
“You’re so predictable these days,” (Y/n) laughed.
Lao propped himself up on his elbows, “You’re only saying that because you’ve gotten used to my moves.”
“Maybe you should take some time away from me,” (Y/n) jeered, “Y’know, and learn some better ones.”
Lao furrowed his eyebrows, “God, if you don’t stop flapping your mouth—,”
“You’re trapped under me, what are you gonna do? Kiss me?” She laughed.
Lao brought his leg up and forcefully kicked her off, sending her tumbling across the court. (Y/n) jumped onto her feet, narrowly avoiding hitting the wall.
“If you keep that up I just might.” Lao teased.
“You wouldn’t have the nerve,” (Y/n) lunged at him again.
Lao used his hat to block her attack and landed a solid kick to her side. “Is that a challenge?”
God, every word that came out of the girl’s mouth was beginning to get him fired up. He could feel his chest begin to tingle with a mix of excitement and anxiety. What if (Y/n) genuinely wanted to kiss him? If he tried, would she pull away? Kung Lao had always been the bolder of the two, but still.
Kung Lao charged at her and grabbing her hands, holding them behind her back with one hand before she could fully regain her footing. With his other hand he grasped the collar of her top and pulling her closer to his body. (Y/n) was paralyzed by this sudden action and her breath hitched. She looked up at Lao with uncertainty, the color of her cheeks turning redder than the fabric Liu Kang tied around his head.
Lao’s hand trailed up to her face, holding the side of her jaw with his pointer and middle finger while his thumb traced circles over her lower lip. Lao was looking directly into her eyes now.
“Just say the word and I will, (Y/n).” His tone was quieter and more serious than ever before.
(Y/n)’s mouth quivered. It felt like her brain had entirely blanked and she couldn’t find anything clever to respond with.
“I— I... I yield!” She cried, quickly pulling away in embarrassment.
(Y/n) ran up the stairs just as Liu Kang returned. She nodded to him in acknowledgment, but continued to rush off to her room.
Liu stopped and glanced from her retreating figure to his cousin who stood along in the court.
“So... who won?” He cocked an eyebrow in confusion. Kung Lao buried his face in his hands.
———
The next couple of days seemed incredibly off to everyone. (Y/n) went out of her way to avoid interacting with Kung Lao, and vice versa. Lao’s thoughts were just too jumbled for him to approach her, no matter how much he wanted a confirmation on whether she felt the same or not, and (Y/n) was having a difficult time making sense of Lao’s actions.
What would happen if they did like each other? Although at this point, neither of them were sure if “like” was the correct term to use. (Y/n) was certain up until then that Kung Lao had meant everything was a joke and simply took this one a little too far. The insults, the flirting, all of it had been a joke, right? That was their silent agreement. Lao would never do anything with the intention of... well... getting to (Y/n), per say. Their intentions with eachother had always been purely platonic.
But was that really the truth in (Y/n)’s case? Or had she been ignorant to her own feelings towards the boy all along? Is that why she couldn’t stand to look him in the eye now? What if she really was in—
“(Y/n)! Master wants me to accompany him somewhere, so I can’t make it tonight.” Liu called out as he jogged to catch up with the girl.
She blinked, “Oh, it’s alright Liu, we can reschedule for another night then.”
He stretched his arms over his head. “Why don’t you use the time to catch up with Kung Lao? It seems like you two hardly got to spend time together this week.”
(Y/n) blushed and began to shift her feet uncomformably, “Lao and I— we’re- I haven’t...” She sighed, “I’m not exactly in the mood to talk to him any time soon.”
Liu frowned, “It isn’t my place to speak in the matter, and I’m not sure what went down between you two, but If Lao said something I’m sure he didn’t mean it.”
The girl groaned and leaned her head back. “That’s what I’m afraid of...” She mumbled.
Liu placed a hand on her head and ruffled her hair, then placed both of his hands on her shoulders.
“You’re a smart girl, I’m sure you two will be back on track eventually. Remember: a little communication goes a long way.”
She nodded, “You’re right, I know. I’ll try to sort it out.”
___
Now, Kung Lao was completely crumbling over why (Y/n) had pushed him away. He believed that (Y/n) felt something for him, he was sure of it, and he’d been searching for an opportunity to pursue her for months. So when she jokingly asked if he would kiss her, how could he have resisted?
It was an impulsive decision, he admitted, but he was so sure she felt the same that he thought it didn’t matter. Maybe he should have been more forward and confessed his feelings for her in a different setting.
Buuuuut it was too late now. He blew it. And now she was avoiding him. He was a fool to assume such things about her.
Lao signed and threw himself done on his bed, sprawling his arms and legs out dramatically.
“Cousin? I’m heading out soon, I came to say goodbye—,” Liu’s voice faltered when he saw the state of his friend. He stifled a laugh. “Y’know, if you if this is effecting you so badly, why not just apologize and talk to her?”
Lao’s head shot up in alarm. “Oh no, how much did she tell you!?”
Liu laughed, “Little to nothing, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t noticed the strange energy between you two lately.”
Lao groaned and sat up.
“Heed my advice, and stop moping around, Lao.” Liu patted the other young man’s shoulder before setting off to find their master.
___
A few hours passed and Kung Lao finally felt like he had the right words to explain how he felt to (Y/n). Yes, he’d spent hours cooped up in his room, scribbling his thoughts down on paper until he ultimately decided it was best to be direct. The poor girl was probably confused enough as it was.
It was settled then. He’d talk to her tomorrow after training and lessons, but right now it was probably best to focus on dinner.
He silently walked down the main hall and towards the kitchen. He was sheet he staff had already cleaned up dinner, and seeing as he wasn’t present to eat with the others, it was likely they didn’t bother to prepare him a plate.
Lao opened the door but froze in his tracks at the sight of (Y/n) standing in front of the counter, her shirt stained with the remnants of assorted ingredients. She staggered back at the sight of him in the door way. Lao’s eyes strayed to a small tray of egg rolls and a few other dishes.
“Kung Lao,” She breathed out.
He cleared his throat. “That seems a little excessive for a late night snack.”
“Oh this—,” (Y/n) glanced to the tray and back at him, “You weren’t at dinner, and I didn’t expect you to come to the kitchen... it was supposed to be a secret.”
“I see.” Kung Lao was silent for a moment. “Oh. OH— this is,” He gestured to the tray awkwardly, “for me...”
(Y/n) pursed her lips and nodded, glancing down at the floor. The two of them stood without a word for a moment, anxiety building up in their stomachs. Neither of them wanted to be the first to break the silence, and yet both of them had so much to say.
“I’m sorry.” (Y/n) mumbled at last. “I took our usual teasing too far last time, and I shouldn’t have avoided you—,”
“I wanted to kiss you.” Kung Lao blurted out. “I still do. And wanted you to want me to kiss you.”
“Kung Lao, the jokes we made were fun and all—,”
“Well, I’m not playing around anymore, (Y/n). This time it isn’t a joke.” The serious look he had on the other day had returned.
“So...,” (Y/n) began, barely a whisper, “what are you saying?”
Kung Lao exhaled heavily and furrowed his brows. “How can I be any more transparent right now!?” He growled, “I’m in love with you, (Y/n).”
It was as if a heavy weight had been lifted off of both of their chests in that moment.
(Y/n) smiled and wasted no time to wrap her arms around Kung Lao’s neck and press her lips against his. He kissed back without hesitation and wrapped his arms around her body shamelessly. Kung Lao deepened the kiss, and their lips moved together feverently, as if this was something they’d both been yearing for for a while.
When they finally separated, (Y/n) rested her head in the crook of Lao’s neck, sighing happily.
“You know what? I think I just might be in love with you too, Lao.”

Build-A-Bear
Part One
Featuring: Bucky x Stark!reader, dad!Tony, Peter Parker (platonic), background MCU characters
Warnings: [chapter] language; [series] language, smut, violence
Summary: The only people who knew she was actually a Stark were her dad, her step-mom Pepper, and her “uncles” Happy and Rhodey. A promotion within Stark Industries takes her from an already-sought after position in the Weapons Anaylsis Unit straight to the Avengers as a Weapons Enhancement Specialist... which means her dad is her new boss. There’s only one rule at work: no fraternizing with coworkers. There’s one more rule at home: no dating any Avengers. So what is she supposed to do when a grumpy super soldier becomes not-so-grumpy around her? At 25, do her dad’s rules still apply? Or is her entire livelihood at risk?
Author’s Note: I’ve written a decent portion of this but know I won’t keep writing it or post it unless I hold myself accountable and get it out there in the first place 🙈 I haven’t written much for Marvel yet but I’ve read plenty and have written for other fandoms in the past (not to mention the writing degree on my wall lol). I’ll try to post every 2-3 days to keep this moving! And if you like it and want to, buy me a coffee!
No one knew Tony Stark had a daughter. No one but Tony Stark and his daughter. Well, and her step-mom Pepper. And her godfather Rhodey. And her uncle-not-uncle Happy. But no one in their everyday lives knew. She was given her mother’s maiden name and kept a secret, even when she turned 17 and moved to a small apartment near NYU’s campus (with Happy stationed right next door, of course) to start life as a truly normal adult, or as close to normal as an undercover Stark could be. When she graduated with her PhDs in robotics and electrical engineering at 25 — proving brains really do run in the family — she moved into her own apartment in Manhattan, funded by her father under the pseudonym “Michael Myers.” Subtlety was never his strong suit.
Fortunately for you, growing up without the Stark name let you live a relatively normal life. It also allowed you to apply for a position within Stark Industries without being ushered past any red tape because of who your father is. Outside of the financial advantage you had, you worked for your spot in a STEM career. You suffered through every man in your field belittling your work despite knowing less than you. You dealt with the constant interruptions and “well, actually” because of your gender. You powered through late nights and early mornings when your mind was flowing too smoothly to quit.
The last thing you wanted to do was have all that work disregarded because you shared a name with genius billionaire playboy philanthropist Tony Stark. So you filled out the application, sent in your resume and cover letter, and attached three letters of recommendation from your professors. You went through hours of interviews, background checks (conveniently redacting your father’s name), and polygraph tests until that offer letter showed up in your email. You even had to sign the Non-Disclosure Agreements that would bar you from discussing *anything* work-related with anyone outside of your department.
You spent your first year in the weapons analysis department, evaluating alien weaponry and determining how it worked and how to disable it. You had your fair share of mishaps, of course. Holes blasted into walls, fried robot dummies, even burnt animal carcasses. By the end of your first year, your supervisor sent a commendation and proposal for you for an undisclosed promotion. After Pepper Potts “thoroughly examined your resume, cover letter, and accomplishments during your tenure with Stark Industries,” as the letter read, you were awarded a position working on the Avengers’ weapons as a Weapons Enhancement Specialist. You’d never see a fight in-person, but you were assigned to work on advancements and post-battle repairs for everyone, from the Winter Soldier’s arm to the Falcon’s wings to Vision’s... everything. The only heroes you wouldn’t work on were Iron Man and War Machine (those were your dad’s territory) and Spider-Man.
On your first day in your new position, the one and only Pepper Potts showed you to your new lab on the 47th floor. It took all your willpower to look your step-mother in the eye and say, “Wow, Miss Potts. This is amazing. It’s such an honor to meet you,” with a straight face to convince any passerby that you had no outside affiliation with her. Even if her eyes stayed steady on you, you could see her mentally rolling them.
Once you were alone behind the doors of the elevator, conversation changed course.
“You’re going to be sharing a lab with someone else,” Pepper said.
“Sweet. As long as they’re competent, that’s fine by me,” you shrugged. Part of earning your degrees was learning to share a workspace with others, even those who bumbled and fumbled with no idea what they were doing. You’d had more hair singed by nearby explosions than you’d like to admit.
“He’s still in college so he’s not here as often as the others. Most of his work will be on Spider-Man’s gadgets and suit, but you can use him for any help you need.”
Walking past the familiar faces of Dr. Banner and Dr. Cho in their respective labs, Pepper ushered you into your lab, where you were met by your father and put on the same excited facade you did with Pepper.
“Oh my god, you’re Tony Stark! This is incredible! It’s such an honor to meet you, sir!”
He shook his head at you and reluctantly accepted your outstretched hand. Oh, the jokes you’d be making at family dinners.
“Yeah, anyway, this is your new lab, Miss [Y/L/N]. Make yourself at home. This lab rat over here is mister Parker. If you have any questions, he can at least bullshit an answer for you.”
The young man on the other side of the lab perked up at the sound of his name. He tugged the goggles off his face and set down his soldering rod to rush over to you.
“Hi. Hi, I’m Peter,” he said, reaching his hand out to you.
“I’m [Y/N]. It’s nice to meet you, lab partner.”
He looked to be a bit younger than you and at least relatively smart, if the MIT sweatshirt peeking out from under his lab coat said anything. If your dad gave him an internship like this, you knew you shouldn’t question it. He had to be a genius.
The kid just smiled at you, continuing to shake your hand past what most would deem socially acceptable.
“Okay, enough of that,” Tony said, pushing on your joined hands to separate you two. “Mister Parker might be in and out of the lab from time to time. He joins the Avengers on the occasional recon mission for immediate repairs but since he’s on break from classes, you’ll see him more often than not. Play nice.”
When he noticed you surreptitiously looking Peter up and down, he added, “Remember, no fraternizing with coworkers.” He pointed a finger directly at you before he spun and pointed to your fellow lab mate, realizing he should warn Peter too to save face.
“All the blueprints you need for the Tin Man’s arm are in the system. We’ll have you start on that and see what you can do about minimizing the sound that thing makes. Any other questions, give Pep a call.”
“Thank you, mister Stark. I really do appreciate everything,” you said genuinely.
“Yeah, well… don’t let me down,” he replied, patting you on the shoulder on his way out. Pepper followed close behind, leaving you alone with Peter Parker.
“So Peter,” you started, sliding onto the lab chair next to where he remained standing, “tell me about yourself.”
“Uh… what do you want to know?” he asked as he shoved his hands into his coat pockets.
“How old are you?” you asked immediately.
“I’m 21.”
Only four years younger than you. So you’d probably get along just fine.
“I assume you’re at MIT?” He nodded. “What are you studying?”
“Biomolecular and mechanical engineering.” He said it so casually, you’d think he was talking about the last song he heard on the radio.
“Damn,” you responded, eyes wide. “I thought robotics and electrical engineering was wild but fuck, that sounds like hell.”
He laughed and nodded, letting a bit of the tension in his shoulders fall. “Yeah, it’s not easy. But it’s worth it.”
He shot you a small smile before gesturing back at his project. “I should probably get back to work and let you get started.”
For the rest of the day, you familiarized yourself with the Winter Soldier’s arm to figure out how to… turn the volume down? You assumed it was the gears inside causing the noise, but part of you wanted to outfit an audio jack and speaker just to fuck with your dad.
You and Peter worked in relative silence, aside from the playlist he had quietly playing through the lab sound system. When lunch rolled around, however, you finally spoke up.
“Hey Peter,” you called, his eyes flicking from the chemical beakers in front of him up to you. “First of all, what are you doing?”
“Um, it’s Spider-Man’s web fluid. Just trying to find more durable combinations.”
“Interesting.” As much as you wanted to touch the stringy substance, you knew better than to fiddle with someone else’s lab work. “Okay so second thing, in my last position, I’d just order food and have it brought to my floor but now that I’m on an exclusive floor, what do you do for lunch?”
“Oh, there are a couple security guys who have clearance to come into this floor. They just can’t get into any rooms so you’d have to meet them at the elevator. But I usually find something in the kitchen down the hall.”
“Oh, sweet. Thanks!” you said as you made your way out the door. Before you could fully exit, you turned back to see if Peter wanted you to grab anything. Once he promised he’d take his own break ‘once I get this one thing figured out,’ you continued to make your way to the kitchen.
As you drew closer to the doorway, you could hear three voices speaking over each other. They didn’t sound angry, but they were definitely arguing. You opened the door anyway and almost immediately froze in your tracks. The Falcon stood with one hand on his own head and one on the Winter Soldier’s head while Captain America rolled his eyes before those same eyes landed on you, along with the rest of the room.
“Perfect,” Sam started. “Hey new girl, between the three of us,” he said, pointing to himself, the Soldier, and the Captain, “who has the best hair?”
“First of all, my name is [Y/N]. Second,” you continued, making your way past them to the fridge you hoped your dad kept stocked with goodies, “that’s an unfair question.”
You grabbed a soda and popped it open before turning back to the three men. “Your hair suits each of you. Cap wouldn’t look good with Winter Soldier hair and Falcon wouldn’t look good with Cap’s hair.” You took a few steps closer, leaning against the island counter between you and eyeing each of them. Your eyes settled on the Winter Soldier, unashamedly flitting across his face and admiring the sharpness of his features. “You,” pointing at him, “could probably pull off either of their looks, though.”
Bucky smirked at you, but his rosy cheeks gave away a hint of embarrassment at your compliment. Steve and Sam, on the other hand, weren’t taking it quite as gracefully.
“What?!” Sam shouted. “Okay, now I know you’re lying. I could pull off Cap’s hair for sure.”
“You know, I think shaggy hair would really suit me,” Cap said, only half sarcastically.
You giggled to yourself as the three of them started talking over each other again, all dead set on their own hair being the best of them and positive they could pull off the others’ looks. While they bickered, you searched the pantry until you found a snack to at least get you through the remainder of the day.
“Alright boys, it’s been fun but I have work to do,” you said as you walked past them again. “Actually, wait. Bucky — can I call you Bucky?” He nodded even though you continued anyway. “If you could stop by lab six today, I’d love to check out your arm in person. The digital renderings aren’t quite the same.”
“Uh, okay. Sure. I’ll find you,” he said quietly.
“Sweet, thanks!” And with that, you skedaddled back to your lab.

FATWS One Shot #2 - The Beginning of a Family
Word Count: 1804
Warnings: Cursing, Mentions of Human Trafficking (once, it was a mission Reader did), Minor Character Injury
Setting/Characters: The first half-ish of The Avengers in 2012; Reader, Steve Rogers, Nick Fury, Natasha Romanoff, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor, Mentions of Loki, Phil Coulson, and Clint Barton, OC!Agent Anderson
A/N: Here’s One Shot Number 2! I was thinking of making it longer and adding the actual Battle of Manhattan, but I dunno if I’m gonna do that. I just wanted these to be One Shots of first meetings and other smaller events. I didn’t want to do scene-for-scene two parters. If you want me to, I can, I don’t mind doing it, I just wasn’t planning on it. I’ve kinda been slacking today, which is why I haven’t cranked out more than this one, but I’ll see if I can finish one more for tonight. Tomorrow’s another late night for me at work, BUT! Tomorrow night FATWS comes out! So I will be doing the next Episode! I also don’t have Friday off this week, so the Parts might bleed into Saturday, but they will come this weekend!
Reminder that this has nothing to do with FATWS the show, but I don’t have a title for my FATWS Series, which is what these are based off of, so this is what they’re called for now! If you have any ideas for names, feel free to send them in! I’m just too lazy to come up with something clever for the whole Series.
Thank you so much for reading! As always, not beta’d so please excuse any mistakes! Be kind to yourselves and others! Stay tuned and enjoy!

You were exhausted, coming back from an assignment that lasted a little over two months. It’d been your first one since you were assigned to help Steve adjust, and you were guessing they’d keep you on desk duty for a few months before sending you back out again. Which frustrated you to no end.
But then you got back your personal cell phone from a fellow agent and, seeing you had a few voicemails - which you never had - you flipped it on.
“Hi, Y/N.” Your lips turned up at the man you started growing close to over the past year. “I-I know you’re on a mission right now. I mean, you just left last week. Anyways, I just…I hope you’re doin’ okay. You probably won’t get this until later, but…still. I hope you’re safe. I, uh, I got that book. The one you were joking about me getting. The U.S. History for Dummies one. It goes farther back than I need to know, but I still read all of it. It helped. I wish you were here though. But I know you’re working. And that’s important. Um… I guess I’ll see you in a few months.”
The phone beeped before the next message played. “I took your advice. I got a sketchbook and some other stuff. There’s a ton of new supplies. I’m kinda excited to try them out. Maybe they’re not new but they’re more accessible now than they used to be. And I found a gym. In Brooklyn. It’s kinda run down - a hole in the wall type place - but they don’t do memberships and they don’t care how long you stay as long as you pay for your time. So that’s nice. I guess. Anyways…hi. I don’t think I said that earlier. It’s Steve, by the way. But you probably guessed that. Um…that’s all. I just wanted to let you know. Stay safe, honey. Abbyssinia.”
You listened to the next couple ones, all along the same lines. Steve telling you about his day; about the dog he was allowed to pet on his run or the different coffee he tried this morning at your previous suggestion. You snickered a little, shaking your head. You would never guessed that Hitler hitting, Nazi punching Captain America was so…soft. Cute.
His last voicemail was from earlier that morning, and it made her brow furrow. “Hey, honey. I, uh…God, I really wish you were here. I was told you’d be getting back last week, but then they said it might be another couple weeks because something happened? I hope nothing happened. Please be okay. I’ve really missed you. I know it’s only been a year, but…you’re the only familiar thing I have right now. I guess Fury was right to choose you since you were the first person I saw. There’s a, uh, problem. Fury’s got a mission for me. Some guy named Loki stole the Tesseract. Which was HYDRA’s secret weapon. That blue cube thing. I was just getting used to laptops and fast food and this…it’s just a lot. Overwhelming. You were always good at making things less intimidating. I’ve gotta go. Some SHIELD personnel are picking me up now. We’re going to…somewhere. I’m sure you would know, but they haven’t exactly told me. Hoping to see you soon, Y/N. Please be safe.”
You frowned at the information, looking up at one of your fellow agents, Anderson. “Hey.” He turned his head towards you from his conversation with the copilot. “Is something going on at HQ?”
“The Helicarrier.” Anderson corrected. “Fury just called it in. Something with the Tesseract. And some guy’s mind controlling people. He’s got Barton, apparently. The director is bringing a few people on board; Banner, Stark, Romanoff. Rogers, too, I heard. He wants you to be there ASAP, so we’re going there now.”
Letting out a sigh, you rubbed your eyes and nodded. “Alright. Let’s go see what’s going on.”
*************************
Fury met you as you walked off the jet, lugging your duffle bag over your shoulder. You were still in your clothes from the mission; a human trafficking ring in Guam. Dirty, torn up jeans along with a white tank top hugging your torso and a flannel, unbuttoned, over your shoulders. One of your sneakers had a hole in it, too, and you were walking with a slight limp from the dislocated kneecap you got a few days prior.
“Agent.” He nodded in greeting, passing you a file. “The others are waiting. We just brought in Loki.”
You chewed your cheek, narrowing your eyes as you scanned the information in the file. It had personal files of the others, but you didn’t need to look through those. You knew Natasha very well, considering she taught you half the things you know, along with Barton. You knew Stark - of course you did - especially after you helped set Natasha up to be his secretary a while back. Banner you were also knowledgeable about, seeing as you went undercover to find him when he first took off and had been part of the tracking team on him ever since. Thor you had learned about after his fiasco in New Mexico from Coulson. And, last but certainly not least, Steve Rogers, who you knew better than any file could explain.
“Walk me through this; Thor and Loki are the real Thor and Loki? Like, from Norse myths?”
“Apparently so. You know about the New Mexico incident with the two last year, don’t you?”
You nodded, pinching your lips together tightly. “Well, yeah, but I thought…I dunno. I guess it just didn’t click. So,” you tucked the file under your arm securely, raising an eyebrow at Fury. “We’re fighting a god? An actual god?”
“With an army of aliens.” He confirmed.
“Wonderful.” You huffed as the two of you turned a corner, making your way onto the bridge, just in time to hear Stark talking to Banner about him turning into the Hulk.
“Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube.” Fury butted in. You crossed your arms behind Fury, leaning on your good leg. “I was hoping you might join him. Before you do, this is-”
“Y/N! You’re back!”
You shot a grin to the blonde, who perked up upon seeing you. “Hi, Steve. Just in time, too, huh.” You nudged Natasha slightly. “Hey, Nat. Sorry about Clint.”
She shrugged. “I’m just glad you’re here to help.”
“I’m sorry.” You looked over to find Banner frowning contemplatively at you. “Do I know you?”
You opened your mouth to answer, but Fury beat you to it. “Formalities later. Y/L/N, we’ll bring you up to speed-”
“I’ll get there, sir. How are you boys planning on tracking down the Tesseract?” You questioned, nodding in the two geniuses’ direction.
“I’d start with that stick of his.” Steve suggested, turning to look at the duo as well. “It may be magical but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon.”
“I don’t know about that, but it is powered by the Cube.” Fury stated. “And I’d like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys.”
A tall, broad as hell blonde looked at Fury, confused. “Monkeys? I do not understand-”
“I do!” Steve jumped in, pointing at Thor, before leaning back in his seat at the silence that came after his exclamation. “I-I understood that reference.”
You chuckled and shook your head, winking at Steve when he smiled bashfully at you. As the two scientists - was Stark a scientist? - started heading out, Steve hopped up, padding over to you.
“You’re back early.”
“Late, technically.” You shrugged, letting him pull you in for a hug, your hand rubbing his back. “I got your calls.”
He pulled away, his ears turning red. “Oh, yeah. I, uhm-”
You sniggered. “It’s fine, Steve. You can call me whenever you need to. I’m just sorry I couldn’t answer you sooner.”
“You were working.” He shrugged half heartedly. “Did it go okay? Are you okay?”
“Yes, Steven. I’m fine.” You rolled your eyes just as a yawn threatened to escape your lips. “If not a little tired.” You tapped on the star against his chest. “Nice suit, by the way.”
“Ha ha.” He grinned, eyeing your own clothing. “You’re matching me.” He tugged on the red, white, and blue flannel hanging from your arms. “You also look like shit.”
You snorted. “Wow. What a gentleman. Let’s get this whole Loki situation over with so I can go to bed, yeah?”
He chuckled a little with a nod. “Sounds like a plan, honey.” The two of you started out of the bridge. “You should shower first, though.”
“You’re a bully, you know that?”
“I’m just sayin’!”
“I’m just sayin’!” You mocked with a huff. “Leave me be, Rogers.”
His laughter was cut short, making you look over at him curiously, only to find his slitted eyes studying your movements. “Why are you limping?”
“Relax, Captain. I just dislocated my knee. It’s fine. Shit happens on missions, you know that.”
“Is that why you came back late?”
Shaking your head, you lead him to one of the private rooms the Helicarrier had so you could shower and change. “No. I just needed a little more time. That’s all. Now let’s focus on the problem at hand. We can talk more later.”
He hesitated, leaning against the doorway and watching you set your bag on the small cot. “Okay. As long as you’re alright.”
Your heart jumped a bit at the concern laced in his tone, the apprehension in those blue eyes - which you found out had some green in them - making your breath hitch slightly. “I am.” You spoke softly with a firm nod of your head, trying to assure him and his worries. “I promise.”
“I’m gonna go check on Banner and Stark, then. Come find me when you’re done.”
You cleared your throat to recover yourself, throwing him a cheeky grin. “Aye, aye, Captain.”
He rolled his eyes with a smile, before turning and walking out, leaving you alone and confused.
What was that? You’d never had that reaction to anything. Your heart doesn’t race whenever someone walks in the room. Not like it did with him. What the hell did that even mean?
You shook your head, clearing your throats. You didn’t have time to dwell on that now. You doubted it was anything more than a fluke. You were just tired and seeing someone familiar, who was genuinely excited to see you was like a breath of fresh air after your operation. That’s all. Yeah.
With that decided, you headed to the shower, head spinning with new thoughts of this problem with the God of Mischief and that stupid blue cube.

ULTRA LONG TIME TWIN HEADCANNONS
@sippin-on-waterfalls your post is ready
From Pokedash and Purplefern
Ooooooookay here we go.
_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_
-Krux perceives time slower than others so he is easily late to events (plus he gets distracted and way into projects so he can easily lose track of time, ironically) so he could end up missing a lot of Elemental Alliance meetings
-Acronix made sure he informed Krux it was time to go (whenever he remembers, anyway) otherwise he’d be uber late all the time. Good thing they always go together
-Acronix is super early all the time because of his powers and he and Griffon Turner’s grandfather got along really well
-All the same, between lack of attention span, focusing on other things, and not caring for the meetings in general, Krux and Acronix miss a LOT of meetings
-Before alliance meetings Wu is training little Morro and the Twins and the Master of Speed just waltz in the monastery doors an hour early
-Acronix teaches Morro some sick fighting moves (some rather underhanded)
-Krux advises him to never let people get away with harm cause you are the most important thing in your life. (Revenge!)
-Wu be like plz stop encouraging my kid into violence and dishonorable tactics.
-Krux brought refreshments to an EA party exactly once. It was pickled beet tea and nobody liked it. He took it very personally.
-Back during the war, the love triangle with Misako was actually a love rectangle. Krux had a crush on her too but he literally had no idea how to act on it so his part of the rectangle was staring at her longingly from afar and not saying anything.
-Yes Acronix teased him immensely about this. And tried to act as a wingman several times but Krux swore if he did he would murder him
-Pre-series, Misako would do work for the museum a lot, so she ended up working with Sanders Saunders quite often. Despite her relationship to Wu and Garmadon and their “history”, he did like working with her ok
-They both also worked with the Explorer’s Club a lot, and have equal disdain for Cecil Putnam and Clutch Powers
-Krux hates Cecil’s stuffy rules (even though he couldn’t show it while being Dr Saunders) and Clutch’s….everything
-Krux’s doctorate is real, and he has a doctorate in History and and Master’s degree in Museum Studies
-He’s the Curator of History at the museum, and the other curator is the curator of natural sciences
-Acronix is a big nicknames guy. He doesn’t usually call people by their actual names. Only the people he actually cares about or that he super hates.
-But he also generally despises nicknames given TO him. The only people allowed to call him Nix/Nixie are his brother and mother (and later Shannon).
-Krux only calls Acronix "Nix" if he's feeling particularly vulnerable/scared/etc (so like, when being the older twin isn't feeling that fun and he decides to ignore those 3 minutes and be more like the "younger" twin.) So this becomes a lot less as he becomes more arrogant.
-(Based on how he describes Dareth getting beat up by the Vermillion warrior) Krux likes watching wrestling. It’s a guilty pleasure of his
-And of course Acronix loves it once he learns about it, so the two watch it together
-Krux occasionally plays strategy board games. He tried to get Acronix into them but he found them boring.
-(Sometimes he’ll suck it up and play with him anyway, though.)
-Both are sass masters
-Both also like science
-But like completely different facets of science.
-Krux of course likes the more stable and earthy sciences. Biology and geology, ecology. Those elemental science that have always existed but we just haven’t yet understood them
-Krux is also a total history nerd. Things like paleontology and anthropology are also really interesting to him
-Yes he was a dinosaur kid. (Especially since dinosaurs had just started to be discovered back in his day.)
-Acronix of course likes advancement and the otherworldly sciences. Technology, Astronomy. Sure we build upon the discoveries of the past but what about creating something new for the future?
-Acronix does like bioengeneering since it is a new advancement but he knows saying so would make Krux grin with “I told you bio was cool” vibes
-Krux can engulf himself into his work or his schemes for days. As he is very patient.
-Acronix is less so. He sees time constantly moving forward so sitting idle to “Plan” seems a ridiculous waste of time.
-He jumps from activities quickly as the novelty of it wears off and he is always on a quest for what's new and what may work, not really what has been confirmed to work
-Krux of course sees this as a fool's errand. We need to respect the knowledge we have and use it and plan with it.
-But when they are in sync you should be SCARED
-Both thinking in the Present can make them in perfect harmony, Both in fighting and talking.
-Their different planning methods can help eachother get things done. So yes, when they work together you should be scared
-Krux can get really fixated on an idea, and get into major creative blocks. Acronix helps propose out of the box solutions that keep his ideas moving forwards that he wouldn’t have thought of himself.
-But as we see they can also be reeeeallly different and fight over the miniscule things.
-Krux lingers on Grudges easily as he physically cannot not put value to the events of the past.
-Acronix’s main grudge with the alliance came from his ego and arrogance, not his element. I think he feels very internally about wrongs to him in the moment but if he sees nothing really changed a couple of days later he loses interest in holding such a grudge easily
-Each of them have the ability to not be affected by the other’s powers
-Acronix has no patience to listen to anything he doesn’t want to hear. Back when he had his powers he COULD and WOULD just “skip” peoples’ dialogue if he got bored of it.
-Krux has a bad habit of “freezing” people if he feels like they’re interrupting him. Like, he will freeze people who are trying to get him to stop working on something while he’s trying to get something done, and then get back to them when he feels like it. Everyone has to work on his time. (Annoyingly, this does not affect his brother, which is why Acronix is the only one who can actually get him to stop working on his projects.)
-Whenever Krux & Acronix would hang out with Chen, Acronix loved messing with Clouse. Clouse reminds him of his brother, but even more stuffy and annoyed somehow, so he just has an instinctual urge to annoy him as much as possible.
-(Clouse does not appreciate this, but Master Chen says they’re “important” to his plan so Clouse just suffers quietly.)
-Acronix likes the Master of Speed, but also finds it annoying that he can resist his slo-mo powers by going really fast. (On the bright side, though, this does make him the closest thing to an equal he’ll get for a sparring partner, if Krux doesn’t want to train with him for whatever reason.)
-Because of his element, Sound is one of the rare people who doesn’t really mind Krux but REALLY dislikes Acronix. Acronix is just so loud all the time and it physically pains him because he is so sensitive to vibrations and volume. Krux is generally pretty quiet so doesn’t bug him as much.
-Acronix is an Entrepreneur (ESTP) and Krux is an Architect (INTJ)
-They have no Feeling whatsoever
-Otherwise, they are complete opposites
-Both of these personality types hate rules, regulations, and micromanaging restricting authority figures (hmm, wonder why they broke away from the alliance…)
-Acronix is arrogant in the way that he doesn’t care about his flaws, because obviously he is awesome and everyone else is just jelly, Krux is arrogant in the way that he hates people pointing out his flaws, because shut up he doesn’t have any
-Their mother is Polaris, they take after her physically
-Father is Kronos, they got their powers and ego from him
-Their father actively encouraged them to have immense pride in their element -- being the former master of time himself
-Ordered them the sweet matching armor
-He was a samurai back in his day, which is why the Twims wore samurai helmets.
-Between their two loving parents, the Twims were nearly spoiled
-Krux and Acronix grew up pretty rich, Kronos was pretty much high society and Polaris was too
-They went to a fairly fancy private school growing up
-But everyone there were snobs so they didn’t get along well with their classmates (what a surprise)
-Their parents died in a skirmish with Serpentine, leading the Twims to join the alliance full of vengeance.
-Acronix has a battle scar from being grazed by an anacondrai sword on his left pec cause I said so
-Also a lot of misc snake bit scars and a burn scar from that one time (Ray’s got a bad temper and Acronix likes pressing people’s buttons, so that went super well)
-Acronix super cares about his looks so has a ton of, like, haircare and beauty products. Krux has a single bottle of 3-in-1 and a bar of soap and says that that’s sufficient.
-Back in the day Acronix had a bunch of oils and whatever for his hair, and when he’s in the present he’s got a bunch of fancy shampoos and such. He’s definitely the vain one of the two twins
_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*_*
A collection of Neurodivergent Twims HCs
-Acronix has ADHD and Krux is autisitc
-Acronix is early, but only to things he remembers. He often forgets dates. And Krux will get involved with something else, and has a warped sense of time. Together, the two miss a lot of EM meetings
-And when they’re at them, neither of them are good at conversations. Acronix talks a mile a minute and doesn’t let anyone get a word in edgewise. Krux either doesn’t talk to anyone or similarly dominates conversation and doesn’t let anyone else talk.
-The two also get sent on solo missions alot
-They don’t focus well in a group setting (Acronix generally ignoring the plan for what he prioritizes as the better option and krux simply not being popular with the others and only really battling well beside his brother)
-They are generally strong enough to protect a village by themselves
-The other EM work better with them out of the way since they are “annoying” and no one really likes their arrogance, pride, or entire personhood
-They seem to be happier working only together than with the whole group
-Once during a group charge on a collection of Serpentine races Acronix notices a horde heading in a different direction and follows them impulsive
-All of these things together make them especially unpopular with the other EMs
-Especially with the Master of Ice, who considers their actions disrespectful and often scolds them on their behavior
-Krux and Acronix can BOTH get hyperfixated on things they are interested in, and can also forget to eat and sleep.
-Acronix struggles with insomnia a lot because his brain doesn’t shut up. Luckily his brother never really sleeps either. They spend a lot of long nights talking about nonsense
-Acronix tries to use time skip powers to not waste time while sleeping. He skips the night, but he still didn’t get sleep. He crashes after a few days of this and Krux tells him that he’s a moron
-Acronix has a fidget spinner, which he got for the memes but ended up finding unironically helpful, and gives Krux a fidget cube (which Krux reluctantly accepts and actually does use pretty often.)
-Before learning what a fidget spinner was he would flip his phone a lot. It was both an easily accessible stim and assurance he knew where it was cause he tended to leave things around at random.
-Krux used nail-biting as a stim, mostly because it can appear pretty neurotypical
-Acronix is “annoying” around the ninja during his lil redemption arc, but instead of reacting like the elemental masters, the Ninja actually do research and come to an understanding (especially Zane, who is perceptive, understanding, and has an instantaneous link to the internet).
-Altogether he’s a little surprised when they actually put effort into tolerating and understanding his differences. Huh. How’s bout that?
-Jay is also pretty understanding, he’s got a lot of nd cousins and has ADHD himself so it’s kinda just *shrugs*
-Modern dyes and preservatives really trigger Acronix’s ADHD to be even worse than usual.
-Zane picks up on this, and like the mother hen that he is starts to put in a special effort to keep dyes away from Acronix (or to keep Acronix away from dyes, as the case may be)
-Jay has a similar problem with dyes (which Edna let the Ninja know about, thanks a lot ma ) so Zane works double time to keep them both away from dyes
-Makes special dishes that are “ADHD safe”
-Neither appreciate it (well Jay does but will complain openly at every chance he gets)
-Acronix got into a lot of trouble with their dad when he was a kid, because he just couldn’t pay attention
-Has bursts of anger a lot, oftentimes this happens during things like parties or pre-meeting conversations. (which easily leads to him getting a label of “aggressive” or “hotheaded” by the EMs)
-DEFINITELY struggles with Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria
-Ninjago history is Krux’s special interest
-Krux freezes people around him when he needs a sec to destim
-Krux is pretty high-functioning, but is on the borderline. He's high-functioning enough to be aware of himself and mask, but not enough to avoid things like shut/melt downs
-Acronix is fiercely protective of his brother whenever he shuts down. Messing with Krux while he's like that (whether the antagonist is aware or not) is a one way ticket to his wrath as well as physical punishment.
-Whenever things got too intense at a meeting/party type thing, Acronix would ditch and sneak them both out whenever Krux was heading towards a shut down. Being the awesome supportive twin that he is, he learned to pick up on the signs of one and was certain to prevent them pretty much whenever possible.
-Acronix failed in his efforts only once (he was kind of sick that day and wasn’t at the top of his game to be keeping a watchful eye on his bro), and Krux kind of ended up time freezing a few of the EMs in the process. It was something the elemental masters (or Krux himself) did not soon forget or forgive.
-He'll go nonverbal sometimes, to the minor aggravation of the alliance. Sign language isn't a thing yet so anyone trying to understand him when he's like this are pretty much reliant on Acronix and his twin sense to translate.
-When their parents died Krux went nonverbal for a little over a month.
-Krux was pretty delayed in learning to speak, he didn’t say his first word until he was 3 ¼
-Even during his redemption arc, Acronix does not tell the Ninja about Krux's autism, from a built in fear that the knowledge would be used against him in possible future battles. (Also because he knows Krux wouldn't want them to know.)
-Krux doesn't just hate phones because “ugh technology”, he also just hates talking on the phone because it’s super difficult

OK there are way more that we have but... did you know there is actually a word limit on Tumblr? Heh heh... If you want more Twim goodness you can read our extensive fanfic collection... or maybe we’ll make a part two (That’ll probably consist of Home life pre-war stuff, post-canon AU junk, Vermillion family nonsense, and more random stuff)

Pillow Talk
So I’m going through a personal growth arc ™ I’ve never written a reader insert fic before and thought I’d give it a shot (I haven’t written much at all in the last 5 years anyway lmao). I'm trying to challenge myself by trying new things. I also want to learn how to write comedy. It made me smile writing it so I hope it makes someone smile reading it.
Constructive criticism welcome, but please be kind and gentle! >.<
Rating: Mature
Relationship: Midoriya Izuku/Reader
Additional Tags: Fluff, dirty talk, gender neutral reader, no explicit smut but it’s implied that smutty things happened, the word ‘panties’
Deku simps come get your fluff!

With a yawn you turned to your side and shifted your weight to your elbow so that you could look down at the face laying next to you. His eyes were closed. The ghost of a smile pulled at the corners of his otherwise relaxed mouth. Damp curls stuck to his forehead. You began to count the freckles that dusted his cheeks but quickly lost track with the thought I could explore these constellations forever.
His bare chest rose and fell gently with even breaths. You matched your breathing with his and felt a flood of calm wash over you. You hadn’t noticed before - you hadn’t had the opportunity to look this close before - the permanent crease between his eyebrows from years of worry and stress, the beginning of crows feet at the corners of his eyes despite being only in his twenties. Resisting the urge to kiss away his worries you began to ease yourself out of the strong arm that was still wrapped around you.
“Are you okay?” Izuku’s slightly raspy, yet gentle voice startled you.
“I’m sorry,” you turned back to him, “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“You didn’t wake me,” he smiled softly, emerald eyes shining behind thick lashes “I just wanted to lay like this for a bit.” He brought his free hand up to cup your face “You okay?” he asked again.
“What?” you returned his smile with a grin of your own “Are you looking for a performance report?”
His hand fell to his chest as he let out a choked laugh, “That’s not what I-”
“Let’s see…” you cut him off by placing a finger to his lips. It was too late, you noticed the soft blush that warmed his cheeks and reddened his ears. You weren’t going to miss this opportunity. “Mission report: Mission Success or Failure?” you recited as if going over paperwork. “Success, definitely. Several times over actually.” you traced a finger over his chest as if marking a checkbox.
With a groan Izuku buried his face behind his hands in a failed attempt to hide the blush that now spread from cheeks to neck.
“Let’s see, what’s next,” you pretended to read from a list, still trailing a finger down his chest “ah yes, equipment.”
Something between a laugh and a groan tumbled from behind Izuku’s hands as he made an attempt to sink deeper into the mattress.
You pretended not to notice as you continued, “Above average, but not excessive. Makes excellent use of mouth and hands.”
"Ohmygod" Izuku mumbled through his fingers as he smoothed his hands down his face. A half-hearted attempt at a scowl resulted in the cutest pout you had ever seen.
"Any significant take-downs?" You went on with your imaginary paperwork, tapping your finger to your chin in mock contemplation. "Only my panties."
A deep laugh rumbled through Izuku’s chest, you felt it as much as you heard it. Tears of laughter were starting to form but he wiped them away as he rolled his eyes at you, a toothy smile betraying any sense of composure he was trying to maintain.
"Shhh, I'm almost done," you teased. "Aftermath:" you sunk down into the crook of his arm, laying your head on his shoulder. "Soft. Tender. Gentle. Perfect."
Izuku wrapped both arms around you pulling you closer. He buried his face into your hair, you could feel his smile against your head.
Almost in unison you both let out a sigh of contentment as you held each other tighter.

once upon a birthday
Birthdays haven’t always been Jack’s friend, but he’s starting to realize that every May 18th he reaches is a miracle rather than a tragedy.
May 18, 2017.
Jack saw that combination of letters and numbers everywhere on his first day of life. He saw it on the corner of the newspaper on Sheriff Barker’s desk, watched her scribble it on a page of notes she was writing up about him, saw it light up on Clark’s phone when he opened it to show Jack something “cool.”
It would be a while before he realized that date’s significance.
-
May 18, 2018
Jack was seated around a campfire with the other kids of the rebel camp, staving off their fear of the incoming dark by telling them a story. It was just the plot of Clone Wars, but since it didn’t exist in this universe no one called him out on it.
Bobby’s voice carried over the sounds of the camp settling down for the night, low but still decipherable.
“...our supply’ll run out by the 25th. We have to keep moving, get some more.”
Jack never did learn what they were about to run out of, because Mary’s response snared his attention even tighter.
“Remind me what day it is now? I lost track while I was… you know.”
“Right, I get it. It’s May 20th.”
And Jack stopped short in his tale, the realization that he’d been alive more than a year hitting him like a blast from one of Michael’s soldiers. The little girl next to him nudged his elbow and asked if he was okay.
“I’m fine,” he said, smiling gently. “It’s just that my birthday was two days ago. I only realized now.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. We could sing to you now?” All the children nodded their agreement, but Jack shook his head.
“Thanks, but it’s okay. Besides, I need to finish telling you about Ashoka’s rescue mission, right?” They leaned in closer around the fire, and Jack went back to his narrator voice. “Now, she knew it would be a dangerous journey, but…”
That night when Jack was trying to sleep (Mary made him promise to attempt four hours, even though he didn’t really need it) he wondered if birthday celebrations lived up to their reputation. He wondered if his was ever going to be worth celebrating, given all the pain and death that day had brought.
With the new knowledge that he was a year old, Jack dreamed of his mother- wafting through hazy gold memories of a furniture warehouse, Castiel beside her, in the days before Jack was capable of hurting anyone because he couldn’t control his powers. In the days when he still felt safe.

May 18, 2019
“How’s it goin’, kiddo? Enjoying the quiet?”
Jack whirled around to face the Empty head on, unwilling to show just how much its appearance had startled him. It didn’t bother him much, per Billie’s instructions, but sometimes it liked to taunt him. Usually it appeared as his mother, sometimes Cas, but today it looked just like him.
“What do you want?” Jack asked, lifting his chin. His doppleganger mirrored the action, before smirking and sauntering closer.
“Oh, calm down. I don’t bite, I’m just delivering a message.”
“A message from who?”
Billie would just deliver a message in person, and no one else could contact him in here. Maybe Cas could-
“Hmm, I don’t know,” it interrupted Jack’s thoughts. “Time? The Universe? Anyway. Happy birthday, sport. Enjoy the official start of your terrible twos.”
With that the Shadow vanished, leaving Jack alone in the dark once again. He sat down and curled his knees to his chest, wishing there was a corner or a wall he could press his back against. He felt exposed and vulnerable in the vastness of the Empty’s nothing, and it was making him uneasy.
He closed his eyes and tried to imagine what his family was up to down on earth. Would they be sad? Too busy fighting Chuck to notice? Were they even alive?
He wished with all his might that they weren’t alone. Alone wasn’t what you should be on somebody’s birthday.

May 18, 2020
As endings went, Jack’s was shaping up to be okay. He’d finally had a good birthday- even if it was both impromptu and a few days early. He laid in bed, belly full of his first ever birthday cake, for once not thinking about his upcoming demise.
A soft knock on the door sounded, and Jack sat up in surprise. A glance at his phone confirmed that it was nearing four in the morning, which only thickened his confusion.
“Come in?”
When Cas pushed open the door, Jack smiled.
“You’re back!” he exclaimed, pushing off the blanket and swinging his legs over the side of the bed.
Cas pushed the door to a close behind him and shuffled further into the room. “Sorry, I know it’s late, but I had a feeling you’d still be awake.”
“Is everything okay? Nothing went wrong with talking to the angels, did it?”
“Don’t worry, everything’s fine,” Cas assured him. “The angels are going to keep an eye out for Amara, but that’s not why I wanted to talk to you.”
Jack frowned. Then why…?
“Happy birthday,” Cas said, pulling a gift bag out from behind his back. “I know it’s early, but I heard you celebrated while I was gone. So I picked something up on the way home.”
“Thank you,” Jack breathed, taking the gift and settling it on his lap. His first birthday gift.
Cas took a seat next to him, giving Jack’s arm a gentle nudge.
“You can open it now, if you’d like.”
Jack didn’t need to be told twice. He tore into the tissue paper, eagerly unveiling the surprise it hid from view. At the bottom of the bag was a teddy bear, clad in overalls that smushed down its soft brown fur.
“Your mother always wanted to buy one for you,” explained Castiel. “We placed the order, but it didn’t arrive before…”
“Before.” Jack sighed, throat suddenly tight with emotion.
“If you don’t like it I can take it back-”
“No, Cas, it’s great. I love it. Does it have a name?”
The question didn’t faze Cas in the slightest.
“Well, the official name according to the store is Marvelous Marvin. But I believe it’s customary to name a stuffed animal anything you’d like.”
Hmm. Jack studied the bear’s face for a moment, tilting his head. “Marvin’s good,” he declared. “I like it.”
“I’m glad.” Cas smiled, then stood up. “You should get some rest.”
“Wait!” He hadn’t meant to say anything, but as soon as the word was out he realized he really, really, didn’t want this day to end. “I saved a piece of cake for you. And I’m not tired, so…”
It only took about ten seconds before Cas gave in with a fond shake of his head.
“Okay. Let’s go.”
Jack followed him to the kitchen, Marvin under one arm.
His third birthday, and his first good birthday.
What would almost certainly be his last birthday.

May 18, 2021
There were many things in life Jack had learned to think of as little miracles. Some seemed utterly insignificant, like the flowers that managed to grow between cracks in the sidewalk. Saying hello to his mother should have been just as beautiful and commonplace, but to Jack every chance was more wondrous than the sun shining through a storm.
He whispered it now, breathing another miracle into being in two precious little words.
“Hi, mom.”
Kelly looked up from what she’d been reading, face lighting up in joyous surprise. She came forward and swept him up in her arms, and Jack allowed himself a moment to be grateful. In spite of everything, the universe allowed him to have this.
“I didn’t think you’d be back yet,” she said as she pulled away, her hands clasping his. “I mean, you said you had to fix all the parallel universes, and Cas said there’s hundreds of them…”
“I’m not done yet,” he said. “Amara’s still out there, and I’ll have to go back soon, but... I really wanted to spend some time with you today.”
Kelly frowned, concern taking over her features. “Is everything okay? Do you need help, or-?”
“I’m fine,” Jack assured. “It’s -on earth, anyway- it’s May 18th. 2021.”
Realization struck. “It’s your birthday.”
“I wasn’t sure if you’d even want to celebrate, because my being born wasn’t a good day for you, and-”
“Jack, baby.” Kelly put a hand on his cheek, swiping away the tear he hadn’t known was falling. “My death was not your fault. Okay? Of course I want to celebrate your birthday with you.”
“Really?”
“Really. We can call Cas down here, watch some movies, make a cake-”
Kelly was already moving to the kitchen, all ready to start baking.
“Mom, wait. I… I had a birthday cake once,” he told her. “And that was… special. Could we think of something else to do? Just you and me and Cas?”
“Of course, honey. It’s your day. Cookies?”
Jack nodded, and he smiled. Because in that moment it was crystal clear that each year spent growing older, especially those spent with the people that he loved most, were little miracles too.
And he had plenty more birthdays to look forward to.
